What is a person's most destructive habit? Laziness. It destroyed many talented, promising and excellent people. How to deal with laziness? How to become more productive, hard-working and energetic?

“Laziness is like rust: it corrodes faster than frequent use wears it out.” Benjamin Franklin

What is laziness? This is a lack of desire to work and a lack of hard work in life, when a person prefers to relax. Laziness is considered one of the most important human vices, which prevents him from self-realization. A person refuses to overcome difficulties and follows the path of least resistance.

There are many people who have not achieved what they want due to their own laziness. They gave way on the road to those less intelligent and talented, but more persistent and hard-working. The mediocrity and foolishness make their way when the talented are left with no destiny.

How to get rid of laziness forever?

Don't avoid discomfort, change and fear, otherwise you will be easily vulnerable

Fear, discomfort, stress are necessary things for your growth. Don't avoid them!

We live in a society that always tries to avoid discomfort, pain and find the easy way out.

It's very easy to lose yourself using this type of thinking.

Avoiding change is a crime.

You need highs and lows to grow.

If your life is very calm and smooth, then you will be easily vulnerable and break down in a difficult situation.

The more you are inactive, the weaker and softer you become. From here you will not have the slightest idea of how to find fresh strength in yourself and how to stop being lazy and start taking action.

If you sit with your hands folded all the time, you will not be capable of life.

Get out of the perception of “you need to appreciate and achieve this constant comfort.”

Devour experience by the train and know that any experience leads you to success and growth.

Choose friends who have similar interests to you and who will motivate you to grow

If your friend is sitting on your neck, then why do you need him?

If your old friend is stupid, and he continues to deprive you of motivation to grow, pulls you back, then kick him away from you. This is not your friend.

A person who doesn’t need to explain anything, and who understands you with one look and without a word - is your true friend. It doesn’t suck your energy, it motivates you to grow and consciously move towards your goals.

Communicate with those people, looking at whom you will also want to develop. This way you can get rid of laziness and drowsiness and there will be a desire to grow.

You don’t need someone who discourages you from developing and pulls you back.

You should know everything about how to find friends with whom it will be interesting to communicate, and you will never regret your choice.

What is laziness?

Typically, the concept of “laziness” implies a person’s lack of motivation to perform important and relevant tasks. Understanding perfectly what actions need to be carried out right now or in the near future, a person diligently avoids this activity or replaces it with something else. Even having realized the inevitability of completing upcoming tasks, he continues to devote time to unimportant matters and passive pastime (like watching TV series or chatting on social networks).

Girl with headphones

As a rule, laziness prevents you from doing important things that require effort: study, work, self-development. But a person is always ready to walk, have fun, play video games or even active physical games (if this is not his obligation, of course). Thus, laziness is the desire to avoid active actions necessary at the moment. Laziness is a kind of defensive reaction of the psyche, a subconscious desire for freedom of choice. With its help, we “protect ourselves” from actions that seem senseless and forced to us.

It is difficult to get rid of laziness, since our subconscious is guided not by common sense, but by primary instincts and emotions. And as soon as we begin to perceive some actions as forced (for example, “I have to do this because I need money”), we convince ourselves that this is not a voluntary activity. And the caring subconscious automatically seeks to protect us with the help of laziness.

Give quality energy to the world, and you will receive even more energy back

By quality we do not mean empty chatter or meaningless chatter.

When you give quality energy , it means you share your best thoughts and express yourself as your best self and act to help others with it.

When you learn to bring something useful into this world, everything will come back to you in an even greater volume, and you will not be able to sit still.

The strength for even greater feats and adventures automatically comes to you, and you no longer worry about how to stop being lazy and start living.

Diversify your life: find your favorite activities that will give you new emotions and the desire to create

Everyone has their own tastes and passions in their lives. Find these activities.

Your hobby shouldn't end with lying on your bed and doing nothing. There are many activities, and you can choose different ones.

If you come home from work every day, then turn on the TV, eat and watch TV shows until late, and in the morning it all starts again, then this is not life.

Dullness and routine always discourage the desire to create and enjoy life.

Some people are interested in drawing, some like to jump from a parachute, some like football, some like ice skating, sledding down a hill.

All these things bring everyone their own range of new emotions and a sense of joy from life . The question of how to overcome laziness and apathy is closed as soon as you find your favorite activity.

Appreciate your youth, don’t sleep through your younger years, it’s time to cope with laziness

Your young years are the best years of your life. And if you spend them lying on the couch in front of the TV screen, then you are not living. You become a vegetable.

Appreciate your young body, the potential strength that you can develop if you work on yourself.

You can find a lot of hobbies - there is always a lot of room for your growth .

Only a fool knows everything. A wise person realizes how little he knows and how much new he still has to learn.

There are a lot of areas and vectors in which you can develop and succeed. Find them, decide, and then you can stop being lazy and start working.

Don't waste away at home. Use your potential, given by nature to everyone without exception.

Don't feel sorry for yourself, self-pity is the lowest feeling on earth

Have you seen animals that feel sorry for themselves?

Self-pity is like a disease that people deliberately get and plunge themselves into this shit.

People choose to be a victim and complain about nonsense. If you continue to take on the role of a victim and feel sorry for yourself, then you will always think about how to overcome laziness and force yourself to work.

Self-pity often turns into laziness. And the excuses for all this will be “I can’t do anything”, “I’m weak”, “have pity on me”.

If you feel like a victim or a poor soul, then you are nothing!

After all, you're not even trying to change anything. After all, you haven’t made an effort to become better and change the current state of affairs.

Some people strive to be their best selves, to become an interesting and aware person, while others choose to feel sorry for themselves and feel like a victim.

We choose who we want to be.

How to treat laziness is not necessary?

Drug treatment, conversations with psychologists and behavioral therapy can undoubtedly have an effect. They will relieve the acute condition and allow you to return to normal life to some extent. The problem is that such treatment usually takes several years, or even decades, without leading to a final cure. No wonder, because the disease has many causes, and they create a so-called cumulative effect, reinforcing each other.

Not a single psychologist, even the best, is able to cover the huge volumes of mental material that influenced the painful development of the individual and change behavioral practices. Here you are tired to the point of being squeezed out of a lemon, and senseless troubles, and destructive habits, and the inability to do what you really need, but not to do unnecessary things. Without a comprehensive study of all this, treating laziness is impossible.

Set yourself a goal, live your dream and make it come true

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What exactly would I like to do?
  2. What's really stopping me?

Take a piece of paper and a pen. Conduct a written analysis and close your questions about how to kill laziness in yourself.

All that stops any person is:

  • Or fear.
  • Or a lack of understanding of why I need it or don’t need it.

Live your dream and don't be afraid of your desires.

Don't be afraid to make your dreams come true.

It's okay to have goals and work towards them. Set yourself a goal in life, especially if you are still a teenager, and you will no longer be bothered by questions about how to cope with laziness and apathy.

You have to forget about shyness and everything that stops you. Read more about how to do this in the following detailed guide.

It’s bad if you have no goals at all, and you don’t know what you are doing on earth and why you were born.

Ask yourself: “Who are you?”

Your goal should match your skill level

  • The best experience we experience is a state of flow , that is, when we immerse ourselves in the current moment here and now and forget about what is happening around us.
  • When the complexity of the task/goal matches your skill level , that's when you plunge into a state of flow!

Ways to get rid

Below we will talk in detail about how to deal with your laziness. Professional advice from a psychologist may seem strange or impossible, but try to follow them and see how your quality of life improves. So, let's look at the main methods.

Wedge with wedge

Just as in psychotherapy there is a sensitization effect, so in the fight against laziness sometimes its own weapon becomes effective. Try not to do anything while standing. Stand somewhere in the house, turn off all gadgets and look around. You can't sleep, you can't sit down either. After a certain period of time, you will become interested in action. If the interest is small, stand until it completely covers you.

When you are already eager to fight, ready for action, then it’s time to think about what you could do that would be so useful. These tips may help.

Inspiration

In other words, look for motivation. A motivated person can move mountains. There are many motivational videos and audio recordings that encourage change and give new ideas. But what if they don’t work and there is no reward?

There is a very effective technique by Itzhak Pintosevich: 2 pictures will relieve apathy and fatigue. Imagine in your mind that you didn’t get the job done, draw a colorful picture. Then imagine that the task is completed, how will you feel? After this, you will no longer want to lie down, but start working faster to get your imaginary second one. This attitude in psychology is called affirmation.

Love the job

To paraphrase, make it more interesting. What saves teenagers and young people from rebellion and indifference is the search for interest in a given action. Almost everything can be done either by coming up with an alternative or by adding some imagination.

Some children, for example, turn cleaning up toys into a whole rescue operation. Teenagers can be offered the reincarnation of an adult business manager or parent (if they still have authority).

Friends with ambitions

If lethargy and depression occur, you need to “hit” your values. All young people have ambitions. You can use them to benefit your cause: challenge yourself. To overcome laziness and increase your ability to work, set some condition. For example, set yourself deadlines so you can get everything done in an hour or two.

It's great if you're accountable to someone in your challenge. Controlling people can be friends or relatives. To get some inspiration and set yourself up for effortless success, read the tips on how to do this.

Make a promise: “no” to excuses

Accountability is also important in this matter. Psychology says that being under someone else's control acts as a powerful motivator. If you have reached a high level of responsibility, make your own decision not to look for excuses, but to take action and see things through to the end.

Blindfolded athletes have been known to lift barbells heavier than usual, just because they were being set up for success. Give up excuses and challenge yourself, then things will get done faster and more efficiently.

How to get rid of laziness once and for all: 9 tips for overcoming this bad habit

Background music

Oddly enough, but sometimes your favorite music invigorates better than other methods. Surely you have noticed how your mood lifts when your music plays. Then it’s easier to move, work and flit around the house or office. Music really puts you in a good working mood. If you can’t listen to your favorite melodies, hum them mentally, this also gives you a boost.

The price of laziness

Let's look at the price of laziness - this is what can force a person to work and study. There is a very effective method, you can’t get away from it. Its essence is that the challenge to your ambitions is supported not by a promise, but by material values.

For example, you promised yourself to clean your desk in 2 hours. If you don’t do this, promise your family or friends to pay a fine, for example, 2,000 rubles. And you already have a double motivation: you promised and must pay the money if you didn’t manage to complete the task. I assure you, the method works best! By burning bridges back (losing money), you remove the path of retreat.

We solve the problem radically

There is a tough, but also effective method of liberation from laziness. It is simple to the point of impossibility: until you complete the task, do not eat. This method, after a certain time, will raise even the most malicious lazy person. It is important for a person to understand that if he does not work, then there will be nothing to eat either.

Earning money for food is the responsibility of every adult. Especially when it comes to responsibility for other lives. As a result of applying this method, a person becomes aware of the responsibility that he must take upon himself.

Reward

Well, how can we do without encouragement? After several actions completed flawlessly on time, do not forget to please yourself with what you love. It could be treats, a favorite movie at the cinema, new clothes or a trip. You will notice how your mood will lift, and along with your hard work, your sense of confidence and happiness will increase. But joy and work must be balanced.

Drop all excuses where you blame existing circumstances.

People shift responsibility to all sorts of circumstances. They find excuses that “the circumstances are terrible now,” “the situation is inconvenient,” “there is no suitable mood.”

All these excuses only hold you back and will never let you understand how to get rid of laziness and achieve your goals.

Realize that your circumstances will not get better over time..

People like to stay the same, they like comfort and avoid everything unknown and chaotic.

Look at your situation in life now, where you are. She is probably the same and very similar to the one she was a year ago.

Every year the circumstances will not improve, but will only get worse

Maybe a year later you entered somewhere and there was some progress in something. But you remained the same person and the same personality. Chances are, you haven't changed that much after a year and still remain the same .

Circumstances will not get better every year ! In reality, every year they become even worse.

Except if someone took a lot of action to grow.

If your excuse is “I’m tired,” then realize that every year you will get older and become even more tired .

If you “don’t have time now,” then every year, as you get older, you will have even less time .

Your questions about how not to be lazy and manage everything will never be answered if you continue to put everything off until later.

Psychologically - social reasons, the exclusion of which will help get rid of laziness without effort:

Virtual space.

The human psyche has its own reserve of energy. And if you want to overcome laziness, you need to learn to distribute your mental and emotional energy, for example, like a runner in a marathon. When we wake up in the morning we have a certain amount of energy, let’s imagine that this energy is a bucket of energy liquid. Every time we get emotional, we take a leak from this bucket. And in fact, in physical terms, it looks like tension in certain muscles in the body. So, with any emotion (joy, sadness, anger, resentment, fear, shock...) the muscles also tense, plus the internal processes of the body begin to turn on - the work of the glands. For example, when we are afraid, adrenaline is released, when we are sad, tears flow, etc.

And most often, in the morning I watched five videos on YouTube, went into my favorite game, looked at the news feed on a social network, and in an hour everything turned into a vegetable, i.e. I poured out the whole bucket, and the day had just begun. If you have plans for the day, then it is better to make time for virtual space at least in the evening. Well, if your plans are “Napoleonic”, then it’s better to allow yourself to completely immerse yourself in the multimedia space once a week on your day off, and have a blast.

7. Not your own goal.

Often, while going to work, it comes to my mind, “Why am I working for my uncle and helping him achieve his goals?!” But this coin has more than one side. Although, on the one hand, the hard worker helps his boss buy an expensive car. On the other hand, the employee earns money both for himself and for his own purposes. Although I agree that when running your own business, the desire and motivation to work and think is greater than working for someone else.

It helps to overcome laziness by simply switching your attention to your goal. Create paths to your goals, look for the road, and you will have the energy to achieve your goals. Another reason for inaction is when the goal we set for ourselves is not ours. It only seems to us that it would be nice to buy an iPhone X, but perhaps the goal is the desire to communicate more, or to appear richer and more successful.

When setting goals, you need to have a dialogue with yourself. Ask yourself many times, “why do I need such an expensive mobile phone?” And answer the same number of times. If everything is adequate, logical, and the expected costs and efforts, there is no regret in achieving this goal. Then go ahead, and if you ask yourself, and answer yourself, “because I want to,” then it’s better to figure it out and think through options for other goals in order to start acting and get rid of laziness.

8. Motivation.

There is a burning, strong motivation - it is born on its own or for some reason. Remember that burning state - yourself. And if you need to get rid of laziness, then just remember how it was. Give yourself a couple of minutes to think about how you can apply that energy right now. And there is also a table of 90 years of life in weeks. It’s enough to fill it out and you realize that there’s no time to lie on the couch:

9. Two days.

The first day when you don’t do anything all day, but you’re tired, as if you’ve been working all day. The second day I worked all day, and still had energy for a lot of things to do. So, thinking a lot is very costly for the body, the brain is the second largest organ in our body. But to act is to create. And when you see the results of your efforts, then you see why you worked like a slave. And if you put effort into the quality of the work done. Then you want to create more. And sometimes they are also praised for quality work, and even better when they pay for it as for quality work.

10. Psychology.

“Self-floating” thoughts that make you wander through the labyrinth of unawareness and inaction. There is a way out and even two:

  1. Logical thoughts, and not so logical actions, are the strength of a person. Psychology, let’s break this word down into two words: “psyche” and “logic,” what I want to say by this. Talking to yourself, for some this is not normal, but in psychology, and in fact, it is natural for a person. We talk to ourselves every day, from birth to the end of our lives. Learning to think logically is great. Invite all thoughts into your head, determine with your entire mental delegation priorities in life , identify goals in life in general, and a specific next step . Crown logic and place it on the throne, give the reins of power to it. Have this meeting at least once a day, either at the beginning of the day or before bed. Logic in this case will help you get out of the endless labyrinth of wandering thoughts, and will help you get rid of lethargy and stickiness in your thoughts.

Reception mirror:

2. Here’s another trick from psychology for you, on the topic “how to get rid of laziness.” Perhaps the further action will seem strange and illogical to you, but if you decide to get rid of laziness, then do it right now. Go to the mirror, stand straight, take three deep breaths and exhale slowly. Then use your dominant hand to stroke your chest. Say: “I forgive you!”, “I forgive myself!”, “I forgive you for everything” loudly and affirmatively. Not necessarily in these exact words, speak in your own words, ask for forgiveness and accept forgiveness.

Thank yourself out loud for everything. For anger, for fear, for laziness, for weakness, for nervousness, for being frugal, for gluttony.

Then thank yourself for trying to become better.

Stroke yourself without stopping. And then list all the gratitude for all your achievements, efforts and endeavors in life.

Afterwards, you just need to talk about one further action, a specific step, which is a high priority for you. And it is better if this action is thought out in advance according to the principle of the previous paragraph.

Implement good habits every day and gradually increase their complexity

Remove the words “should”, just do it and act every day. Get into the habit of taking action and being active.

You simply carry out actions without thinking about the result, without imagining the consequences. You just take action and turn it into a habit. It's just a habit.

Start small! The most important thing in all this is doing small things that gradually become habits.

This will help you gain confidence and implement small action habits. Later you can apply this to larger tasks. This is how you can overcome laziness and cure yourself of this scourge.

An example of how to implement habits:

  1. First, you develop even a stupid habit : for example, drinking tea with lemon in the morning.
  2. When this becomes a habit, you introduce a new habit of preparing a salad for lunch every day.
  3. Then you move on to a more difficult habit - you will look for a new job every day.

Habits are the bricks on which our lives are built. They are more important than results, grand schemes, prospects or big ideas.

What you do every day is what matters most. Implement these habits and stop worrying about how to get rid of laziness and apathy.

Develop good habits that will lead you to a successful life.

On our website in a new article you can find out more about how to become more confident and all about the psychology of confidence for girls.

How does laziness arise?

He put his feet up on a chair

To quickly get rid of laziness, you need to understand exactly what caused it. There are quite a lot of mechanisms for its occurrence. But they boil down to the fact that our subconscious seeks to isolate us from any activity that causes discomfort or seems forced and not desirable. By getting to the bottom of the root cause and eliminating it, it will be much easier to get rid of laziness.

So, most often the following reasons make us lazy

  1. Fear of failure
    . Lack of confidence in one's own strengths, competence and sufficient preparedness to carry out a certain job is the most common reason.
  2. Fatigue
    . It can be both physical and emotional. A person can burn out more from stress than from challenging work. The best way to get rid of fatigue is to get a good night's sleep. It is advisable to learn the simplest meditation techniques and techniques that allow you to conserve vital energy.
  3. Depression
    . This condition leads to a complete lack of motivation. Often the cause-and-effect relationship is blurred. Depression leads to laziness, and lack of success and breakthroughs in life only makes depression worse. The best way to deal with this condition is to carefully analyze your own goals and the emotional obstacles that prevent you from achieving them. By identifying the cause of depression and eliminating it, you can get rid of laziness without much effort.
  4. Weak willpower
    . Willpower refers to a person’s ability to do what is needed instead of what one wants. A great way to overcome your own weakness and complete difficult work is to start with simple tasks and gradually move on to complex ones.
  5. Hope for a miracle
    .
    People tend to hope for “maybe”. You can often hear the statement that this feature was brought up in our country by folk tales. But people all over the world face similar motivational problems. And in order to get rid of laziness caused by relying on a miracle, you need to understand that all important events are the result of our actions , and not inaction.
  6. Adrenaline addiction
    .
    Most former students have the experience of writing complex term papers overnight. Urgent work, panic and an adrenaline surge force a person to work with increased productivity. Many people retain their tendency to work in this mode even at 25 and even at 35 years old. But stress is not the best help. It degrades your health and the quality of your work. It’s better to spend one and a half to two times more time, but do everything efficiently, without causing harm to your own nervous system along the way.
  7. Lack of motivation
    . If a person does not have a clear understanding of what he will get by completing a certain task, it is perceived as useless work. The optimal solution to such a problem is to search for motivation (it is necessary to analyze what benefits the result will bring).

Shake up your life like no one has ever shaken it before

Throw yourself off a cliff and learn to fly while falling

  • Go to a homeless shelter . Look at the children who grew up without parents.
  • Look at the homeless people surviving on the streets without a roof over their heads.

Look at these people surviving in difficult conditions. This will give you motivation to change, so you can stop being lazy and start taking care of yourself, looking at things more soberly.

Intentionally create a situation that kicks your ass..

Create a situation for yourself where you either drown or start swimming . Create a situation that will force you to learn to swim.

You have to throw yourself into the middle of the storm. And you must create this storm or hurricane yourself.

Most people wait for situations that will kick them. You must create this uncomfortable situation yourself.

It's not the nicest way. This method is not about how to get rid of laziness without effort and without investment on your part. But this is one of the most effective.

Watch the following interesting video from a social dynamics coach. This is instructor Jeffy from RSD.

This video talks about how to get rid of laziness forever and how to complete the most difficult tasks. Jeffy talks about a phenomenon of resistance in the human brain. More details in the video.

«For our laziness, we are punished not only by our failures, but also by the successes of others.”.

Jules Renard

A huge number of people in our country are not just lazy, but pathologically lazy. Whether this is the result of a special mentality, or some kind of laziness DNA is in the lead in the genes, it is not clear. But the fact remains that many prefer passivity to active action. And only those few who manage to overcome their laziness manage to create the life of their dreams.

Those who remain look at these people with envy and look for the reasons why they became successful. Do you know what the most popular assumptions are? Yes, exactly: the presence of a rich relative, lover, lack of principles, etc. Envious, in a word. It doesn’t even occur to them how much this successful person worked on himself until he proved to himself that he could manage his life on his own. And that’s why today I decided to return to the age-old question: “How to get rid of laziness”?

Laziness is what drags you down. And with each new day you are drawn deeper into the quagmire of your comfortable existence, in which you do not need to make any effort. Quiet ordinary life. Until in old age you come to your senses and begin to regret that you didn’t do much of what you had planned.

Sloth is a sweet-voiced siren who never goes away forever. She is always somewhere nearby and just waiting to lure you into her network, full of excuses why you cannot and do not want to do something.

But if you want to live a life full of vivid sensations from your victories, it’s time to get out. To do this, I will give you seven effective steps that will help you get rid of laziness forever.

So here are the seven steps:

Step 1.

Take a pen and notepad, sit down and write down what exactly you are lazy to do. Maybe attend training? Or study a foreign language? Or practice scales on the guitar? I understand that perhaps I’m even too lazy to write now, but still write down everything you remember. Don't analyze. Just write.

Step 2.

The most serious and important. No, don't go for a smoke break or a cup of coffee. Now, for each item, write down at least three reasons why it is important to you and what you will get as a result of it. For example:

1. I want to learn Spanish because I am going to Spain for the football championship and get Ronaldo’s autograph without the services of an interpreter.

2. I want to change my job, and the new company requires knowledge of Spanish.

3. If I learn Spanish, then in the new company I will receive a higher position and a doubled salary.

It's clear? Get started.

Step 3.

At this stage, you will be surprised to see that most of the points that you are talking about are actually simply not important to you. These are not your goals, someone imposed them on you. Society, parents, friends. So feel free to cross them out and don’t fill your head with unnecessary things.

Step 4.

The remaining points are what is truly important to you. You see what benefits this promises for you. Close your eyes and imagine in colors that you have already achieved everything - position, material well-being and success. Cool feeling, right? Try to remember it.

Step 5.

Now break each of your goals into small subgoals and write them down. As they say, it is easier to eat an elephant in parts. For example, it is important for you to learn WordPress because you want to develop your own website and open an online store. To do this you need:

1. Work through the WordPress tutorial.

2. Go to computer courses.

3. Listen to a webinar by a famous blogger

Step 6.

Post the list somewhere visible for extra motivation. The more often you see him, the better. Start doing it a little at a time, starting from the first point. Having completed one point, cross it out with a red felt-tip pen.

Step 7

Every evening make a list of what you will do tomorrow. Five points. Believe me, if every day you take five steps towards your goal, you will not just get closer to it, you will fly towards it like on a jet plane.

These seven steps will allow you to launch a systematic attack on your laziness. But it won't be easy at first. The first few days you will still have to force yourself. Therefore, I will tell you one tricky piece of advice on how to get rid of laziness forever. Together with the seven steps above, it forms a very powerful alliance.

So you've taken the first five steps. And here a lack of faith in your own strength can seem to paralyze you. To avoid this, do the following:

Start by spending just five minutes a day on each step. Few? At least start with this. Deceive your laziness, show it that the activity that is important to you will not last long. Laziness won’t have time to catch on, you won’t get tired, your brain will put the first results in its storage room. You won’t believe it, but after a week you will be able to effortlessly devote 10-15 minutes to each action, and laziness won’t even budge.

Do you think it won't work? Let's do an experiment. Like you're too lazy to do everything. I don't really want to do anything. Lie down on the bed and do nothing. Literally. Don't move your arms or legs, don't move your head, don't turn around. Just freeze and do nothing. We bet it will last you a few minutes, and then you will want to scratch your nose, blink, turn on your side, etc.

But no, laziness is so lazy! Just lie down! Do not want? Well, then get up and take five minutes of your precious time to complete some item. For example, sit down 50 times - a fit figure has never bothered anyone.

Are you ready? Get started now. Just five minutes! This will be your first step in the fight against laziness. Keep up the good work and move on! Study the articles, share your successes in the comments, and remember - THE KEYS TO SUCCESS EXIST!

How not to be lazy

How not to be lazy

A person sitting on the couch looks sad and pathetic, right? Except when it's you. Laziness is very common in modern society because most people will not die of hunger, cold, or predation if they work less often and do less.

According to Wikipedia, laziness is the absence or lack of hard work, the preference for free time over work. There are reasons for laziness, but we won't go into them because they don't really matter. All problems, as always, begin in thinking. It is with him that we will work today.

Eight voices of laziness

Laziness is a very tricky thing, closely related to cognitive dissonance. When we don’t want to work and feel guilty, we begin to explain this behavior to ourselves. Laziness has eight strategies for this:

  • Confusion: “I don’t know what to do.”
  • Neurotic fear: “I just can’t.”
  • Fixed Mindset: “I'm afraid I'll fail and look stupid.”
  • Lethargy: “I’m too tired. I have no energy."
  • Apathy: “I don’t care.”
  • Regret: “It’s too late to get back to work today.”
  • Identity: “I am a lazy person.”
  • Shame: “I shouldn’t be so lazy.”

Let's look at each voice separately.

Confusion: "I don't know what to do"

This voice can speak the truth. It happens that it is difficult to get down to work, because it requires enormous mental energy just to begin the task.

In any case, you will either take it and do everything, or be lazy and complete the task later, which will be even more difficult.

Neurotic fear: “I just can’t”

Normal fear triggers the fight or flight response, while neurotic fear causes a person to freeze. We feel immobilized and lazy.

To overcome neurotic fear, you must first acknowledge it, allow yourself to feel it, and then take action. It means doing what you're afraid of.

Fixed Mindset: “I'm afraid I'll fail and look stupid.”

Fixed mindset is a popular term from psychologist Carol Dweck's book Mindset. People with this mindset believe that their talents, abilities, and intelligence are set at birth and do not change throughout life.

They are afraid to learn new things and develop, but want to look smart and talented, even if they lack experience.

Lethargy: “I’m too tired. I have no energy"

It may seem incredible, but we put a lot of energy into suppressing our laziness. The more we run away from work, the more it takes root in our unconscious and drains our strength. When you're feeling sluggish, instead of stimulating yourself with caffeine, embrace your fatigue. You should not use stimulants; it is better to rest or sleep a little.

Apathy: “I don’t care”

Apathy is the quiet voice of depression. We all become depressed to varying degrees of intensity. In this article you will find some tips on how to overcome apathy.

Regret: “It’s too late to get back to work today”

Regrets are a part of adulthood. In fact, they are excuses for not starting right away.

You blame yourself for missing out on new opportunities, but continue to be lazy. This is how your whole life can go.

Identity: “I am a lazy person”

When we hear this voice, it is a sure sign of victim syndrome. It is the justification that leads you to believe it. This means behaving this way even when you are full of strength, energy and enthusiasm.

Remember that everyone can be lazy, but this does not mean that we are all lazy. And in general, eliminate the word “laziness” from your vocabulary.

Shame: “I shouldn’t be so lazy”

There is no need to think that if you are a conscientious person, you will automatically work more. Sometimes it’s even the other way around: guilt helps you accept your laziness. They say, “I feel guilty, which means I’m punished and don’t have to work.”

As you can see, in order to get rid of laziness, you need to fix many problems, because it does not appear out of nowhere. There are a number of reasons that can be eliminated using the following strategies.

1

Overcome inertia

Inertia is the tendency to do nothing or remain in the same position. In the context of the article, it is a state of laziness or disinterest where we simply do not want to put in the effort to move forward.

When we find ourselves trapped in inertia, we lack energy, inspiration and motivation. It is a state of mind in which a person has reached a point where instant gratification supersedes any future rewards.

Indulging in inertia for short periods is normal. We all spend some time like this. This becomes problematic when such periods drag on too long. This activity becomes a habit that is very difficult to break.

To overcome inertia, short-term and long-term methods can be used.

Short term methods

Short-term methods of overcoming inertia are designed to immediately activate your body, give it some jolt and turn off lethargy. They are suitable for those who want to find a quick way, a magic pill that works here and now. This is similar to pressing the Reset button on a computer. In our case, this will help reset the brain and body, which will return you to the path of activity.

Here are some ways to reset your body and brain in the short term:

  • wash your face with cold water;
  • do some breathing exercises;
  • do a few squats or push-ups;
  • move vigorously;
  • listen to optimistic and inspiring music for a few minutes;
  • read an inspiring quote or page from a book.

Each of these methods is designed to jolt your nervous system into action and therefore eliminate inertia. You can use just one method or combine several of them to reset your biological system.

Another short-term method that also works very well is to verbalize your future actions or come up with a few affirmations. In other words, when you begin work on a task, announce it as follows:

  • I get up from the couch and get to work.
  • I'm a little lazy, but I go and sit down at my desk anyway.
  • I can do it.
  • I believe in myself and that I can get through this.
  • I have enough energy.
  • If I get down to business now, it will help me gain momentum.
  • I will stick to my plan until the task is completed.
  • The more I get involved in the process, the more interesting it will be for me.
  • I'll just work for 15 minutes and do the best I can.

When you “give voice” to your actions, you convince your body and brain that inertia is not an option at the moment. As a result, you are more likely to stick with your new state and continue working on your goals and objectives.

Long term methods

A line of non-instant motivational tools. They are designed to gradually switch and change your thinking. Here are a few such long-term methods:

  • Write your goals down on paper every day.
  • Create a “vision board” that displays your goals. Replenish it as often as possible.
  • Every day, visualize who you want to become and what you want to achieve. This will prevent you from wasting away.
  • Read motivational and inspiring books, as well as biographies of strong people you admire.

Writing down your daily goals works because it reminds you of what's most important and increases your focus.

The Vision Board will give you motivation and inspiration for a very long time. It will serve as a reminder of what you are working on and why. And updating it will help keep your brain fresh.

Visualization is a great way to prepare your psyche for changes in the future. But for this it is not enough just to dream. You need to gradually learn new skills, form habits, create a new set of beliefs and redefine your values.

Finally, reading inspiring books and biographies will tell you what it takes to achieve success and achieve big goals. Use people's real life stories to create incredible enthusiasm.

2

Avoid the hidden pitfalls of laziness

How not to be lazy

Laziness is very insidious. It will deceive you, resist with all its might and take on various forms.

Analyze your typical day. Think about when your energy levels are high and when you feel sluggish and tired. We all experience different energy cycles, this is normal. However, they are often a direct result of:

  • what, how much and when you eat;
  • How active are you during working hours?
  • did you take a nap during the day and if so, how long did it take;
  • when you take mental breaks and how long they last;
  • how often do you experience stress;
  • Do you feel that you are in control of a particular situation?

Your energy levels are likely to drop:

  • when you have lunch, especially if the food is high in calories;
  • if you sit for a long time;
  • if daytime sleep lasts more than an hour;
  • if you don’t take mental breaks (no meditation or “minutes of silence”).

This is a cycle of the human body that cannot be changed. You will feel either energetic or sluggish. As already mentioned, the problem arises when you are inert for a long period of time.

To avoid being lazy and inert during working hours, follow these rules:

  • Don't eat heavy food for lunch.
  • Stay active by taking regular breaks. Just get up, do a minute of exercise or go for a walk.
  • If you decide to take a nap, then the length of sleep should be approximately 15-20 minutes.
  • Listen to music, meditate, read books.
  • Learn all about stress and how to manage it.

Remember that any time the energy is at zero, you will feel inert. This should under no circumstances be allowed. Don’t spread gossip, don’t waste time pointlessly surfing the Internet, don’t watch negative programs. Let your life be divided into only two modes: productive state and relaxation.

3

Use the Japanese "1 minute" technique

In Japanese culture, there is a practice of kaizen, which includes the “1 minute principle” for self-improvement. This method is based on the idea that a person should do something for one minute, every day at the same time.

This technique is so simple that that's why it works. Even the laziest person can pull himself together and work for one minute.

You can make a lot of excuses not to work for an hour, but if you set yourself the goal of doing a task for just sixty seconds, you are unlikely to deny yourself this. By taking one small step at a time, you will be on the path to self-improvement and achieve great results.

Why do people often fall into the trap of laziness? There are three main reasons:

  • Lack of discipline . If you wake up in the morning without a clear plan of action, it will be incredibly difficult to force yourself to do useful things.
  • Unrealistic expectations . You may have a very busy schedule and a thousand things to do, which is simply overwhelming. And this feeling often leads to laziness.
  • Lack of motivation . If you don't have an understanding of what your life should look like, then your motivation level will be at zero.

The “1 minute” technique very harmoniously bypasses all these three problems. It doesn't take discipline to do something for one minute. There are also no unrealistic expectations: everything looks easy and simple. And the lack of motivation can easily be compensated by the thought: “It’s only sixty seconds.”

Of course, this technique is just a trick to trick the brain into working more. But if you really want to limit yourself to one minute, no problem. However, most likely you will want to move along a new, working inertia.

4

List the pros and cons for upgrading your motivation.

Asking questions is one of the best methods of self-improvement. Getting rid of laziness is no exception.

Ask yourself:

  • What will my life look like in five years if I continue to behave as I do now?
  • How will life get worse for me and my family?

This isn't about beating yourself up mentally, but rather about taking a sober look at what your life looks like. The questions may be uncomfortable, but try to see the negative consequences as vividly as you can. Thicken the colors, imagine everything in black or gray tones.

Then ask yourself:

  • What will my life look like in a year if I overcome my laziness, become productive, and achieve my goals?
  • How will life improve not only for me, but also for my loved ones?

That's right: not only the stick, but also the carrot.

5

Practice evening reviews

Progress is achieved through consistent actions. However, incorrect actions can lead to loss of time and errors, which in most cases, of course, are inevitable.

We are human and we make mistakes. But we've also made enormous progress because we've learned to draw the right conclusions from them.

With this in mind, start practicing evening reviews. Think about how you spent your time, what you were distracted by and how lazy you were.

Also consider whether your actions were consistent with your goals and whether they brought you closer to achieving them. Ask yourself:

  • How was my productivity today?
  • Am I falling into the trap of laziness?
  • Where, how and why did I get into it?
  • What did this teach me?
  • What changes can I make in my psyche, thinking and environment to avoid falling into this trap again?

The key to progress is daily improvement. Therefore, if you made stupid things and mistakes yesterday, study them and make adjustments for today.

6

Set a period during which you will be lazy

Sometimes the urge to be lazy can be so overwhelming that it becomes impossible to resist. You begin to feel nervous, and anxiety takes over your entire body.

Then make a verbal agreement with yourself: take a five-minute lazy break during which you will do nothing. However, do not forget to set a timer - this is very important.

Tell yourself:

  • I'll be lazy for 5 minutes starting from now on.
  • After these five minutes, I'll get back to work.

7

Remove clutter from your life

If your life is too cluttered, you may have the false belief that you no longer need anything. If this happens, think about where in your personal and professional life you need to clean up. Here are two questions you can ask yourself:

  • What in my professional life is stopping me from getting to work? Where should you put things in order?
  • What's causing chaos in my apartment? What should you get rid of first?

Do this kind of cleaning constantly, otherwise the trash will begin to take your energy, which will lead to laziness.

We wish you good luck!

Don't identify with the emotions and thoughts that are holding you back

Emotions may not be on your side, they may be against you.

How your emotions and thoughts related to laziness are holding you back:

  • Emotions tell you: “Stay the same, don’t go anywhere.”
  • If you listen to your emotions, then you have fears and barriers to success.
  • If you listen to your emotions, you will remain the same.

If you identify with emotions and thoughts, then you have already lost.

Move forward despite your emotions and don't identify with them.

  1. The beauty of life is to challenge yourself, enjoy that challenge and love it.
  2. Start taking action and taking the right actions.
  3. Get yourself together and take action.
  4. You must take responsibility yourself.
  5. Don’t wait for someone else’s permission, allow yourself to achieve your goal yourself.

Follow these tips and stop worrying about how to get rid of laziness.

Laziness - gone to hell!

How not to be lazy? - if this question interests you solely from the point of view of getting out of the laziness that is tormenting you at the moment, then probably our site will not be useful to you. In the same case, if laziness haunts you often or is even habitual, and is so boring that you have the intention of parting with it forever , and you are ready to devote some of your time to this task, then stay with us - I will tell you how not to to be lazy not just at some moments, but generally never and under any circumstances .

At the same time, the method that I intend to talk about is not to force yourself, to force yourself to do something, to come up with some kind of motivation, to introduce time management into your life, to reward yourself for completed tasks, or anything else - something that is usually offered to combat laziness (and by the way, gives only a temporary effect). You can learn not to be lazy simply by freeing your mind from what forms your laziness.

Laziness is in the head, not in the body. The body simply obeys the head and falls into some states that are not very suitable for active activity, which we call laziness. Of course, if you are really very physically tired, or have some health problems, then laziness can be of a purely physiological nature. In all other cases, laziness comes solely from the head , and therefore, in order to stop and never be lazy again, you need to deal with your head.

Why are people lazy

What exactly can provoke a state of laziness? There are, of course, some individual moments, but there are also many things that are common to different people. For example:

  • continued dissatisfaction with something in your life, and doubts about the ability to change it;
  • lack of faith in yourself, in your abilities;
  • fear that something will not work out;
  • fear that something will work out :)
  • fear of some possible consequences of one’s actions;
  • feeling forced to do something;
  • internal protest due to a feeling of “obligation” to do something;
  • the far-fetched importance or complexity of upcoming tasks, which is why there are a lot of thoughts and few actions;
  • various kinds of self-restraints and internal prohibitions;
  • self-hatred and the self-sabotage it causes;
  • and much more, think carefully for yourself.

All this mental garbage that provokes laziness is formed during life, as a result of some events, perceived information, under the influence of other people. And it doesn’t play any role, you remember something from your past, you don’t remember, you realize something in yourself, you don’t realize - somewhere in the brain all this is recorded and in any case affects you, creates various problems for you, including laziness .

How not to be lazy

If you want to truly learn not to be lazy, you simply need to free yourself from all the mental trash that creates and maintains your laziness, eliminate the influence of your past. There is no other way.

Your subconscious will help you in this task . There is no particular point in trying to remember all the situations you have experienced, and even more so, figuring out which of them could have influenced the development of laziness - you will not be able to remember everything in any case. If you work with the subconscious, then you don’t need to remember anything. The fact is that the subconscious has information about every moment of your life, in all its details and details, and you can, for example, simply point your subconscious to all episodes of some type of interest (for example, when you fell into a state of laziness, when you were afraid that something would not work out for you, when someone called you lazy, etc.) and give the command to process them so that everything that arose in them (all sorts of negative emotions, states, protests, harmful you yourself consents, decisions, conclusions, prohibitions, reactions, fears, grievances and other mental garbage) - were erased. Then any influence of these episodes on you will disappear, the problems caused by these episodes and this mental garbage will disappear.

Such commands can be given to your subconscious using instructions. There are already many such instructions for handling a variety of problems and related episodes of the past. All you have to do is read these instructions and put them to work, for which, in principle, half an hour a day will be enough, and the subconscious will do everything itself.

However, do not forget that there can be a lot of things behind laziness - what I listed above and what you will still dig up in yourself. And for laziness to recede completely and irrevocably, you need to deal with this whole bouquet.

I would also note that processing episodes from the past is not erasing memory, but removing the emotional charge , the negativity they cause, and getting rid of all the mental rubbish that they generated in you. And you may even remember something - some situations that were previously blocked because of their pain. And if this suddenly happens, don’t hesitate - process them right away. Fortunately, you will already have the appropriate tool.

A tool that combines instructions for the subconscious to work through various problems, including laziness and related things, is the Turbo-Suslik .:) Perhaps you have already heard about it? If so, then they probably passed by at that time, otherwise they would not have been lazy already. You can download the book manual for working with the system by clicking on the button:

Solving the problem of laziness using the Turbo Gopher technique will take some time and practice. But if you endure the whole process, endure to the end, then not only will you be able to never be lazy again, but you will also part with other personal problems that you have.
