Interest – is an emotion or desire to achieve a certain state of mind; the subject’s attitude towards phenomena or objects that represent spiritual value.
Hobbies are a way to achieve harmony in your personal inner world by expressing your individuality, a successful attempt to understand and accept your calling.
A person’s interests and hobbies can be safely compared with happiness. They evoke positive emotions, a feeling of fullness, satisfaction, and give joy. In turn, joy is the opposite of boredom, so a person who devotes enough time to his interests is much less likely to suffer from malaise, lack of emotions and boredom. Even being constantly busy with everyday activities does not give you the feeling of joy that your favorite activity can give. In part, hobbies can also be called the meaning of life, because everyone works to earn enough money and spend it on their own pleasure, on their favorite form of recreation.
Basic needs
These are the needs that are necessary to maintain the normal functioning of the body. This includes good nutrition and healthy sleep. If these desires of a person are not satisfied, then he will very soon fall ill, and the question of life will come to the fore. When health deteriorates, the individual will no longer care much about building an effective business or newfangled clothes. By the way, the need to look beautiful already belongs to social needs, but any person, at a minimum, needs to feel that he has the necessary things for different seasons. Everyone also wants to have a normal, suitable home, so that they can then improve it according to their capabilities. In other words, you need a roof over your head to maintain a sense of security and well-being.

Having a loved one
For each of us, for the fullest, happiest life, it is extremely desirable to have a companion, a person of the opposite (or the same - and this happens) sex, who would support in difficult situations, understand perfectly, and share life principles and attitudes.
Walking hand in hand with another person is a great risk and a huge responsibility, since here the individual has not only rights, but also responsibilities. This is daily inner work that must be done with true dedication and absolute selflessness. It is not for nothing that the sages say that living with a loved one is a colossal work. Living with an unloved woman (or an unloved man) is obviously complete hard labor. A woman wants to feel protected next to a strong, confident man. This can only be achieved through constant fulfillment of one's duties. Living with another person means serving him.
Interest – scientific practical
Background
Maria Shapovalova is originally from Donbass.
She graduated from Donetsk University and studied to become a biology and chemistry teacher. She worked in Turkmenistan, in a nature reserve on the border with Afghanistan. Conducted phenological observations of plants. Then, due to family circumstances and in connection with the collapse of the Soviet Union, Maria Alekseevna was forced to leave her home, where she lived for quite a long time - 11 years. It was necessary to choose a new place of residence. They agreed on the Belgorod region and moved here in 1994. It was hard to find work then. My husband got a job as a senior researcher at the Borisov Nature Reserve, and Maria Alekseevna was with her growing children until she was three years old. After maternity leave, she worked at a Borisov boarding school. First she was a teacher, then a teacher, and then for five years - the director of an educational institution. In 2009, the boarding school was liquidated, and Maria Alekseevna was left without work. For a year, the local employment center did not offer her anything suitable for her specialty. As a result, it was decided to start my own business.
Case
Maria Alekseevna prepared a business plan for organizing a greenhouse farm. It provided for the cultivation of ornamental trees and shrubs. The future businesswoman initially wanted to put into practice the knowledge she received at the university.
The project was submitted to the Employment Center. The goal was to participate in the financial support program for entrepreneurs initiated by the regional authorities. The application was approved, and Maria Alekseevna received almost 60 thousand rubles for the development of her business. With this money, I built the first greenhouse with an area of 36 square meters.
Extension
At this time, Maria Alekseevna had already begun to collaborate with her friend and neighbor Marina Vladimirovna Arbuzova. She is a well-known person in the region, a candidate of sciences, and a dendrologist by profession. She defended her dissertation on ornamental plants.
“Marina Vladimirovna and I complemented each other,” says Maria Shapovalova. – She will offer something, I will offer something. This is how this greenhouse was set up. At first, we couldn’t make much money. If money appeared, they immediately invested it in the business. We bought pots, bags, soil.”
At first we worked only for private clients. The sales volume was tiny - 200-300 seedlings during the season. Then they decided to expand production and start growing seedlings of annual crops. Seeds were purchased and sown. They sowed petunia, salvia and marigolds. At this time, the farm established relationships with two clients from Belgorod, who purchased products in small wholesale. For them it was necessary to grow a thousand flower seedlings. Which is what was done.
Support
At that time, grants in the amount of 300 thousand rubles were announced in the region to support and develop small businesses. A partner, Marina Arbuzova, who at that time had her own individual entrepreneur, managed to get the grant. The money turned out to be very useful: the enterprise required expansion. The friends built another greenhouse with an area of 36 square meters, purchased a cultivator and a walk-behind tractor, and provided a water supply to the new site.
But the partners were not going to stop there either. Maria Alekseevna planned to apply for another grant - now through the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex as the head of a peasant farm. However, this idea failed: it turned out that the peasant farm does not fall under the support program according to a number of criteria.
But the grant was received from the Small Business Support Fund. This happened last year. With this money, a utility block with a large basement was built. A basement was required to store rooted plant cuttings. 300 boxes of cuttings spent the winter in the basement. They overwintered, according to Maria Alekseevna, perfectly.
“To plant these cuttings, last year we “ate” KamAZ soil, KamAZ humus and half of KamAZ sand,” says Marina Alekseevna. - This is colossal work. This year, when everyone was celebrating International Women's Day, we worked - we lifted boxes with cuttings to the top. We had to get there before they disbanded."
Sales
A separate story is the marketing of grown products.
“You can’t sell too much at home,” the farmer admits. “So I decided to remember my driving skills. Three years ago I got behind the wheel, although I received my license 15 years ago. And now I go to the market to trade myself.
- And where are you going?
– By regional centers, towns. Borisovka, Grayvoron, Rakitnoye, Gotnya, Tomarovka, Belgorod... When it is possible to occupy retail space for free, Maria Alekseevna offers her goods at Belexpocentre. During specialized exhibitions, for five days of trading in a 3 by 3 meter tent, you need to pay more than 18 thousand rubles in rent. For a rural farmer this is a bit expensive.
Due to the fact that spring is early this year, Maria Alekseevna’s season began a long time ago. The farmer is not afraid of cold weather; the plants grown in her greenhouses are not afraid of it.
Now the farm focuses on such popular plant species as catalpa ovate (or macaroni tree), Cossack juniper, thuja, boxwood, and white dogwood. According to the farmer, people at the markets not only buy, but also order for the future. There has already been a circle of regular customers, lovers of their business. They also ask for advice.
Metasequoia
Among other things, Maria Alekseevna brings various rarities to the market. There are some things, the interlocutor notes, that you won’t find in any nursery in the Black Earth Region.
For example, metasequoia. The tree resembles larch and was considered extinct until 1946. This type of plant is very ancient - scientists believe that its history dates back to the era of dinosaurs. However, it turned out that it was premature to consider the plant extinct. It was found in China, and they began to breed it again.
“Three years ago we managed to get seeds,” recalls Maria Shapovalova. – We sowed them, approximately 50% of the total amount sprouted. It was a good result. As far as we know, the only seven-year-old specimen of the tree is owned by a collector in Voronezh. We grew 150 of them.”
It was not possible to obtain more high-quality metasequoia seeds. But, judging by the literature, the tree can propagate by cuttings. Maria Alekseevna tried to plant 50 cuttings. “We’ll see how it turns out,” she says, “it’s too early to draw conclusions.”
Interest
In general, in the greenhouses of the farm of Maria Alekseevna and Marina Vladimirovna, many different types of plants are grown, more than eighty in total. Among them there are very rare ones, listed in the Red Book of the region and Russia. For example, thin-leaved peony, noble liverwort, low iris.
– Why are you trying to grow rare plant species, Maria Alekseevna?
- To save. We also have a scientific interest. There are plant species that are on the verge of extinction. We want them to survive.
Family
Creating a family is a responsible step that people decide to take by mutual consent, by joint decision to become support and protection for each other. Meanwhile, there is an opinion in society that every citizen is obliged to have a family. In fact, a person should strive for this only when he is internally ready for daily service in the name of another person, even the closest one on Earth. You cannot get married without realizing the obligations that you will still have to take on. Marriage requires constant selfless giving, so it would be a good idea to first learn to care for others.
A question that causes much debate: is a person’s family the one where he comes from? After all, even in the Bible, the greatest of books, it is written that “everyone leaves father and mother” for the sake of his own future. However, this does not mean that parents should be forgotten. Still, children have obligations to the dearest people who raised them. Only by learning to live independently, becoming self-sufficient, can you fully help them.
Self-realization
Each of us defines this complex concept differently for ourselves. The basic needs of a person would be incomplete without the desire to fully express one’s individuality, to reveal oneself as a person. In fact, interest in achieving any high goals is always associated with the desire to remain in centuries, to gain immortality.
Professional activity has nothing to do with it. Yes, it often happens that a healthy person, gifted with some abilities, strives for career growth, a good position, but this often has nothing to do with self-realization. The ideal option is when a person’s personal aspirations coincide with what he does in life. If his dream is a specific position, then this is very positive.
In the dictionary D.N. Ushakova
INTEREST, interest, husband. (from Latin interest - has value). 1. units only Attention excited towards something significant, important, useful or seemingly so. Listen without any interest. Protect someone's interests. 5. only plural Aspirations, needs. Spiritual interests. Animal interests. • Play for fun (colloquial obsolete) - play some game for money.
Material wealth
This is perhaps the most controversial area of human interest. The list would be incomplete without this extremely important addition. Many people are so attached to money that they cannot imagine how they could exist if they had less of it. As appetites grow, so does the need to acquire more and more material goods.
The main thing is that a person must understand: money and material wealth are only means for solving a certain task, and not the goal itself. People often confuse these concepts and confuse them with each other, which is why they subsequently suffer.

Interesting activity
It is also quite often identified with a person’s profession. Moreover, in Soviet times, it was believed that you need to choose a specialty once and for all, and “serve” the state until retirement. “Seekers” and “flyers” were not liked because they did not prove useful to society. Now opinions on this matter have changed. It is much better to find yourself in an interesting business than just work for money.
An activity that brings moral satisfaction and gives meaning to everything can be absolutely anything: creativity, your own business, just an activity, a hobby that gives pleasure. If such activity is consistent with a person’s desire to be independent, to work for himself, then this is even better.
Creation
It is known that not every artist eventually becomes a true master. But a creative streak is present in each of us. What do people need? To be heard, to be recognized, to be fulfilled as a person. Why is this so difficult to achieve? The fact is that from childhood, many were instilled with the idea that they had to work for the state.
So the majority remain at heart unrecognized poets, artists and musicians, having talent behind them, but continuing to work at the factory from year to year. But a person is quite capable of satisfying his personal interests and views on life himself and expressing them through creativity. Few people develop themselves to such an extent that they can become creative and earn good money from it. Only a few have the courage to act not according to the rules, but according to the dictates of the heart. Meanwhile, this is a real prospect.
Practical interests
For the Higher Man, practical interests are determined by the situation. Those. they simply reflect tactical issues within the framework of higher strategic goals, and there are no strategic goals themselves. For example, popularity among the masses is not needed in itself, but serves as a tool for promoting a certain project. The project is over and the person calmly “leaves the stage”, without wasting effort on such trifles as popularity, stardom and similar tinsel.A real person's interests are also partially determined by the situation. But there will be another option - stable practical interests, which are essentially neurotic motivations. Neurotic motivations seem to be not good, but every person still has them. Well, what can you do when you really want everyone’s respect, to be an interesting conversationalist for everyone, or something else like that? Somewhere in childhood, such a motivational line was formed and consolidated. And now this is already the case, whether you like it or not, whether you deny it or admit it. And suppressing such interests is a very unfruitful activity; it is much more effective to give this energy a useful design and use it for your own benefit.
Current situational interests are not considered here. Only stable and only fairly strong aspirations. Also, let's ignore money for now. Let ensuring a comfortable life be a separate direction (and of course interest).
Practical interests usually manifest themselves in dreams and attractive activities. A sign of practicality will be other (besides the interest itself) positive emotional states - if something in the events can please, cause a feeling of superiority or a feeling of strong satisfaction. Moreover, the source of positivity is precisely a certain result that would be good even without the preliminary process. For example, applause and applause are very pleasant, even if they occur without a performance.
Basically, stable practical interests in one way or another come down to secondary needs and extremely rarely to primary ones - in the case of a particularly difficult childhood. To make it easier to determine your practical interests, below is an approximate list of typical ones.
- Material well-being. Confidence in the future, peace of mind, comfortable life. Sources: chronic fatigue from problems, increased anxiety, stereotypes of upbringing.
- Wealth. Interest in being rich for the sake of being rich. An exaggerated form of the previous paragraph. Associated with the fulfillment of all desires. Comfort, superiority, the illusion of happiness and omnipotence. Usually such an interest has a stable rationalization of “necessity.”
- Parenting. Not as a desire for care, an escape from loneliness, or the cultivation of an object of pride, but precisely as a creative process. Sometimes creative potential is projected here and then the direction simultaneously becomes an abstract interest.
- "Perfect family. The ideal is purely subjective, usually a projection of the parental family, but some details may, on the contrary, be denied (which caused protest in childhood).
- Being married to the “right” male or having the “right” wife. So that everything is “as it should be.” Almost always a social stereotype, reinforced by the desire for comfort, order and conservatism.
- Have a respected social status. Self-affirmation, respect, self-respect,
- Make a career or your own business. Independence, superiority, sometimes self-affirmation.
- It's easy to live without worrying about anything. Do nothing in particular, live for your own pleasure. Infantilism, reinforced by a value-laden social stereotype - the illusion of freedom.
- To be a cool guy (usually thought of in terms of power or wealth). So that everyone would envy, fear and respect. Superiority. Sometimes the desire for power.
- Being married to a hot pepper. The goal is to feel superior to other females and partially males. Superiority, prestige, belonging to a certain social class.
- It's prestigious to live. To be envied and supposedly respected by everyone. Also belonging to a specific social class or group. Excellence and involvement.
- To be terribly sexually attractive (usually thought of in the category of “beautiful”) so that males fall wholesale at your feet. Confidence in the future, superiority - both over defeated males and over other females.
- Be cool sexy so that the females throw themselves. Sexual confidence (but the source is always uncertainty), superiority only over males.
- Frequent change of sexual partners. Interest in “processing” new people, building professionalism, and novelty. Sex plays a supporting role, although it can also be interesting because of the novelty of the partner. More common in men.
- Have a wide circle of friendships and acquaintances. Communication, some popularity.
- Be part of a certain group. To be needed by the group, recognition in the group. Communication, community, a sense of need.
- To be needed by a limited group of close people. Usually fear of loneliness, uselessness, or simply “ancestral” upbringing.
- To be loved by one or more people. It can be coupled with the fear of loving oneself, the fear of subsequent disappointment, and betrayal. Most often, it is a consequence of a clear lack of love in childhood, severe childhood or adolescent psychotrauma.
- Be in love. A sustained desire to love is quite rare.
- Glory, fame, veneration. Superiority.
- Be a hero. An idiotic subspecies of striving for fame.
- Be noticeable, unique. To be surprised and admired.
- Have fans and/or a voluntary retinue. Superiority.
- Be very interesting so that everyone wants to communicate. Popularity, mini-fame, uniqueness. Often a projection of shyness.
- The desire to be the smartest and/or possessing unique knowledge. Excellence, respect, uniqueness.
- To be respected by everyone. The most general type of desire for respect and self-esteem.
- So that everyone is respected as an individual. A special case of the previous one. “Just respect” is not associated with itself and is therefore not significant. Often stems from some kind of complex.
- Be good to everyone. A pathological version of the desire for recognition and respect. Dependence on other people's opinions. Such interest is a hindrance, we need to get rid of it.
- Self-sufficiency, independence, independence. Typically, such interest acts as a private goal based on self-affirmation, and when a certain result is achieved, it loses significance. But sometimes there is a hypertrophied form in which “there is no limit to perfection.” In the latter case, despite its general objectivity and usefulness, it has a number of negative side effects.
- Freedom from... The opportunity to live as you like, but without understanding why exactly. Just “so that this and that don’t happen, and we’ll figure it out.” Illusory interest, but nevertheless quite common.
- Selflessly do good to people. If we consider such interest as a stable trend, then it is quite rare in our environment. To some extent, altruism (and this is exactly what it is) exists in every person, but it usually manifests itself in the form of small acts, and even then rarely. There is also pseudo-altruism, when good is done out of the expectation of subsequent gratitude. Then it actually comes down to “being good.”
- Have a hobby or interesting activity. A normal, but nowadays not very fashionable type of desire for emotional pleasure. Actually, the practicality of this interest lies only in “to have.” When the activity of interest is not available or there is no opportunity to implement it. If an interesting activity exists and is being implemented, this practical interest “sleeps.”
- Leave your mark on history. At least some kind - to plant trees, raise children, set up houses, turn back rivers, save humanity.
Individual points may intersect, be combined into a whole, or be partially supplemented by others. Some may be so inextricably linked with abstract interests that it is very difficult to understand whether the process or a certain result is more attractive.
One way or another, most of the items are included in the desires of most normal people, but not all of them have a strong and permanent impact on life. You can ignore points that “just would be nice.” And vice versa, if you really don’t like some point, “some kind of childish, frivolous, materialistic, and in general it’s not me!”, but resonates with feelings or is revealed from analysis, there is no need to deceive yourself. You know, for success it is much worse not to realize or deny one’s own interests than to have some “ugly” ones.
The next block is “Primary Path Design”
Belonging to a group of people
The desire to work in a team, to achieve recognition for one’s work, to feel that one is needed and useful is the true need of most modern people. Those who are used to working for themselves often believe that people only need to achieve financial independence in order to feel happy, but this is not entirely true. The need for encouragement from others, the opportunity to be in a team, is very significant.
It has been noticed that it is easier to overcome difficulties when surrounded by people than alone, so a person feels more confident.
Self-development
Basic human needs are not limited to a sense of security and material well-being. A truly living person constantly feels the desire for self-improvement. This could be advanced training courses, obtaining a completely new specialty or additional education.
It must be admitted that self-development, however, is not always associated with obtaining a diploma. A person’s interests and a list of additional opportunities may well lead to personal growth. All that is required from a person is a meaningful, clear understanding of what he really wants.
In the Encyclopedia Dictionary
(from Latin interest - matters, important), 1) in sociology - the real reason for social actions, underlying the immediate motivations - motives, ideas, etc. - of the individuals and social groups participating in them,..2) In psychology - the attitude of a person to an object as something valuable and attractive to him. The content and nature of interest are related both to the structure and dynamics of a person’s motives and needs, and to the nature of the forms and means of mastering reality that he owns.
The desire to raise healthy and happy children
The desire to continue the family line, to see our children and grandchildren grow up, is considered by many of us to be perhaps the most important thing in life. That is why it often overshadows other values and vital interests of a person.
Some people are often ready to sacrifice themselves: their careers, personal ambitions, even a happy marriage in order to be able to constantly be close to their children and relatives and support them in every possible way. Material interest seems too petty to such people for them to pay attention to it.
The need to delegate your business to someone
In other words, this desire is called the intention of a mature person to leave behind a successor. It represents a fairly common situation when a retiring person wants to transfer his position to a strong and worthy candidate in all respects. The successor does not necessarily have to be a relative, but a responsible person who is ready to undertake an obligation to lead the organization that is left to him.
If we are talking about a simple employee, and not about a former boss, then this intention can be expressed in the desire to teach your children what you can do yourself: knitting, baking pies (mother passes on to daughter), construction, physical work (father to son). With age, a person generally develops a desire to teach someone. He believes that he has already lived life and therefore knows better how it works. Often this need is not recognized by the individual himself, but is adjusted to the vital interests of the person. The list goes on and on.
Thus, individuals have very different interests. Some are associated with material values, others with spiritual components. Together, they contain a person’s interests, a list of his life achievements and opportunities. Of course, each of us independently sets the bar for what peaks to achieve, but there are common aspirations that are the same for most people.
