A hostage to your thoughts, or What shapes a person’s destiny?

Causes of obsessive thoughts

The occurrence of obsessions is directly related to the underlying disease. For treatment to be effective, it is important to make the correct diagnosis. It is not always possible to accurately answer the question of where obsessive thoughts come from. Factors that contribute to the occurrence of this disorder have been identified:

  • genetic predisposition;
  • impaired brain function due to organic or biochemical causes, including neurotransmitter imbalances;
  • mental trauma and stress;
  • personality traits: people with sensitive and labile temperament;
  • the presence of somatic and infectious diseases, disability, pregnancy are predisposing causes of obsessive thoughts.

There are many disorders in which this syndrome occurs, so the diagnosis should be carried out by a highly qualified psychiatrist who can understand the intricacies of the clinical picture and understand why obsessive thoughts arise. When carrying out diagnostics, the following methods are used:

  1. Examination by a psychiatrist: a specialist will collect anamnesis, understand the clinical manifestations and personal characteristics of each patient.
  2. Pathopsychological research: an effective and comfortable technique that, with the help of special experiments, surveys and observations, allows you to conduct a qualitative analysis of mental disorders and understand why obsessive thoughts come.
  3. Laboratory and instrumental examination: modern diagnostic tests, such as Neurotest and Neurophysiological Test System, allow you to assess the severity of pathological processes and make an accurate differential diagnosis. Functional methods will help exclude organic pathology.

What are obsessive thoughts?

Obsessive thoughts torment a person, they are unpleasant and disturbing, you want to hide from them, run away. There are all kinds of obsessions.

Here are some examples of what intrusive thoughts can be:

  • concerns about pollution and the spread of disease;
  • pathological need for order and symmetry;
  • obsessive and uncontrolled counting;
  • obsessive thoughts about bad things: a person constantly thinks about accidents that could happen to him, to his loved ones, to his property, or even to humanity as a whole;
  • groundless and unreasonable avoidance of certain actions or objects;
  • thoughts of a religious, sexual, aggressive or any other nature that are alien to the patient’s thinking and arise against his will.

Constant intrusive thoughts cause unbearable discomfort. Of course, a person has a desire to succumb to these ideas and try to correct the situation. In this case, compulsions appear - actions that a person is forced to periodically perform, even if he does not want to, in order to control what is happening in his head. When intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and compulsive actions (compulsions) are present together, take a lot of time, interfere with life and cause suffering, this indicates the presence of a disease such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

A person begins to avoid cracks in the asphalt or touch every tree on the road because alien thoughts “tell” him that if he does not do this, something bad will happen.

Usually compulsions force you to do something over and over again, like a ritual. By giving in to the compulsion, the person hopes that he can prevent or reduce the anxiety that accompanies the obsessions. For example, he begins to avoid cracks in the asphalt or touches every tree on the road because alien thoughts “tell” him that if he doesn’t do this, something bad will happen. Unfortunately, such actions do not bring relief and only get worse over time, taking the form of an endless ritual.

In addition to OCD, there are other diseases in psychiatry that are characterized by different types of obsessive thoughts. Here are some of them:

  • phobias,
  • neurasthenia,
  • schizophrenia.

A phobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by panic and an uncontrollable, irrational fear of certain situations or objects. Severe anxiety can arise even when thinking about a frightening situation, so the patient tries with all his might to avoid the scary object. All terrible obsessive thoughts and anxieties are associated exclusively with this object.

There are different types of phobias. The most common:

  • agoraphobia - fear of open spaces or places with large crowds of people;
  • social phobia is the fear of social interactions. There are other specific phobias that can relate to anything: airplanes, specific animals, the type of blood.

A phobic disorder may include panic attacks - attacks of fear that are accompanied by a feeling of approaching death and physical sensations: chest pain, heart palpitations, dizziness, a feeling of shortness of breath, numbness of the limbs, intestinal disorders. All this significantly limits a person’s personal life and performance.

Neurasthenia is a disorder that is associated with depletion of the nervous system. It occurs after a long illness, physical overload, severe or prolonged stress. Characterized by constant headache, symptoms of cardiovascular disorders, digestive and sleep disorders.

Intrusive delusional thoughts can be one of the manifestations of schizophrenia, but the diagnosis is made only if other signs of schizophrenia are present.

The disease has three forms-stages, which develop one after another. In the hypersthenic form, emotional lability, irritability and intolerance are observed. In the second phase, called “irritable weakness,” aggression and irritation are quickly replaced by emotional exhaustion and impotence. In the third, hyposthenic form, the patient arrives in a state of constant fatigue and bad mood. He focuses on his inner feelings, which depresses him even more. This phase is characterized by obsessive thoughts of a hypochondriacal nature.

Schizophrenia is a complex, polymorphic mental illness characterized by a fundamental disturbance of perception and the breakdown of thought processes. The clinical picture is varied and depends on the form of the disease: hallucinations, delusions, loss of natural mental functions, personality distortion and much more.

A sick person who suffers from this illness needs full treatment from a psychiatrist. Intrusive delusional thoughts can be one of the manifestations of schizophrenia, but the diagnosis is made only if there are other signs that are specific, diagnostically significant criteria for this disorder.

Making wishes come true with the power of thought

Positive thoughts

Desires are strong thoughts and aspirations generated by consciousness and revealing positive energy. Exercise, fresh air and reading useful literature develop the power of thoughts. People should be physically and spiritually prepared to fulfill their desires, because:

  1. Successful people do not fall into a stupor, they open up to new knowledge, skills, and begin to act.
  2. Don't panic if there are no resources. When faced with another challenge, they begin to work on a plan to obtain the required resources to achieve the goal.
  3. They don't envy. Observing a person who has achieved more, properly minded individuals set out to find ways and means to obtain high results.

Important! On the way to the goal, you need to take your intentions seriously, eradicating negativity. Doubts, fears, and anxiety prevent you from thinking rationally and take away your strength and energy.

How the power of thought works

A thought is a kind of encoding of an image or feeling. To generate thoughts, images are exchanged between consciousness and unconscious processes. Consciousness transforms the received information into coded formulas that flow into feelings and sensations.

For an experiment to determine brain activity, an electroencephalograph is used, which recognizes the impulses of billions of neurons in the operator’s skull.

Electroencephalographic device

The operator's task is to calibrate mental activity, allowing the computer to read his commands from a distance. The screen presents four scales, symbolizing the execution of operator commands sent to the computer. When receiving the first command, the first column grows, the next - the second. Four columns show on the monitor how much the intensity of the power of thought increases.

Developers plan to create robots that read the biopotential of the brain. Machines will use the power of thought to carry out commands. It is also possible that new interfaces controlled by the power of thought will emerge.

Thoughts are material. How to dream and imagine correctly?

“Be attentive to your thoughts, they are the beginning of actions.” Lao Tzu

Visualize your dreams

In order for thoughts to become material, you need to visualize them more often. Close your eyes and imagine that your dream has already come true. Imagine a new beautiful girl with whom you go for walks, kiss, have fun and travel. Imagine a new car, how you drive it, sit in the cabin and go somewhere with your girlfriend. Imagine a new job where you are valued, work hard and make good money.

The stronger and more accurately you can visualize, the better. Imagine things as if they are already real and have come true. Immerse yourself in your dream to the fullest depth. Visualize every day so that your dream lights you up right from the very morning. What would make you hot and you couldn’t sit still. Only then will your dreams gradually come true and even exceed your wildest desires.

Work on your dream

Gifts of fate do not appear out of nowhere. There will be no lottery, inheritance or other miracle. Thanks to an active position, the ability to communicate, a new job or opening a business, you will receive financial well-being. Thanks to a positive outlook, sociability and the ability to make the first move, you will find the girl of your dreams.

The Universe will help you find what you want when you attract it with your thoughts and multiply it by repeated actions. But she won't give you anything on a silver platter. Only thanks to thoughts there will be no result, and the goal will remain unattainable. Any dream will be a well-deserved victory, not an accident.

Work towards your dream every day. You either move forward or you don't. If you do nothing, then you also lost the day and wasted your time. Dreams do not like lazy people and freeloaders.

Make a wish map or visualization map

How to draw up a wish map and not make mistakes? It is advisable to do it on a new or full moon, but if you want to do it right now, then proceed. Do a visualization map at least once a year.

Include in it everything that excites you and wants to receive. You can not just pictures, but add words to the specific things you want to receive. This will be your request to the universe, and it will definitely answer you.

  • Photo. Your photo should be large and in color. Place it in the very center of the map. Choose a photo where you are happy and sincerely smiling. A photograph should convey positive emotions. Don't cut yourself out of photos where there are other people, children or animals. Choose a photo where you are alone and happy, but not after negative events. It’s better to arrange a photo shoot specifically for this.
  • Work, career and success. Post photos of a beautiful workplace. Photos of yourself with a smile and in beautiful clothes. Stacks of money. Achievements, knowledge and successes that you will receive.
  • Money. Avoid pictures of bank cards that may be credit cards to avoid incurring debt. Better just money, but not money that flies into the distance.
  • Love. Don't put a photo of a specific person. Abstract pictures are better. If you don’t want children yet, then don’t post photos of different soft toys: bear cubs, kittens, bunnies, etc.
  • Helpers in achieving your dreams. Indicate specifically what this person is helping you with so as not to attract other character traits or problems.
  • Family. Post a photo of your family, it will help with the energy and warmth of your loved ones.

Place your wish card in a visible place and look at it every day.

Decisiveness in desires and goals

Thoughts are material only when we are determined to win. No “I don’t know”, “maybe”, “maybe”, “I hope”, “I doubt it”. Attraction only works when we are as confident as possible.

To fulfill your desires you need maximum effort. You can't play half-heartedly and win. You can’t pretend that you’re trying and doing something when you’re not. So many people go to trainings, get inspired, occasionally visualize, lazily potter around and wait for a miracle. But that's not how the universe works.

You don't want it very much if you don't try very hard. You need complete dedication when you are burning with desires, act every day, maintain discipline and channel your energy in the right direction.

Persistence in materializing thoughts and the law of attraction of desires

“If you think you can, you can, if you think you can’t, you’re right.” Mao Zedong

What is the law of attraction of desires? The fact is that achieving your dreams depends on how much you want it. If you can prove to the universe that you are worthy of it, then you will definitely get it.

Thoughts are material, but not immediately and not for everyone. Each person must prove to the universe that he greatly needs it. It is impossible to achieve goals at the first stage if you only tried at the very beginning.

If a person struggles with troubles, tries his best, is busy with work and never gives up, then the universe notices his perseverance. If a person does something poorly, retreats at the first problem, or resigns himself, then he will not get more. Why? The Universe sees that he simply doesn’t need it.

The result always meets expectations. If you don't believe in yourself, you won't get anything.

other methods

If visualization is not possible for everyone, then no one will argue with the statement that optimists achieve greater success in any endeavor than pessimists.

What is optimism? This is the belief that everything is not so bad, and in the future everything will be wonderful! That is, again, faith and thoughts in the right direction change the realities of life.

And one more thing: it is important for every person to understand who he is as early as possible. What is important to him and what is not so important. Only by knowing yourself can you begin to make your dreams come true.

By the way, don’t you think that the phrase “Dream carefully - dreams tend to come true” is also about the power of thoughts?

In the dictionary D.N. Ushakova

THOUGHT, thoughts, female. 1. units only Same as thinking. “He reworked and criticized everything that was created by human thought, testing it in the labor movement...” Lenin (about Marx). 2. The product of the activity of the mind, reflection, reasoning; idea. Deep thought. Interesting idea. Not a single thought in my head. “In whose head, by misfortune, there are five or six, there are healthy thoughts.” Griboyedov. Thoughts on education. 3. And it was not in my thoughts. “And at that moment all the thoughts, the only ones necessary, passed through my brain.” A. Blok. 5. only plural Beliefs, a way of understanding something (colloquial). You and I have the same thoughts. Hold onto some thoughts.

Atkinson "The Power of Thought"

Obsessive thoughts - what they are and how to get rid of them yourself

The original source of the famous Law of Attraction is the book “The Power of Thought” by William Atkinson (Yoga Ramacharaka). What a person fears or desires attracts to himself. The author proposes to master the power of gravity and make it serve for the benefit of every person. The source tells you how to achieve harmony with the world, attract happiness and success. Many writers also cite a source whose ideas are borrowed for new works. Psychologists recommend Atkinson's work to people who prefer to live an active life and not go with the flow.

How to develop the power of thought

When realizing desires, it is important to remember the existence of the Universe, which materializes thoughts subject to the following principles:

  1. Attraction. The strongest dreams attract circumstances to make ideas come true. For example, a person decides to buy a PC, and advertisements for interesting offers appear everywhere.
  2. Vibrational matching. Thoughts create certain vibrations. By tuning into the negative, a person pushes away positive events that could appear in his life.
  3. Adoption. The Universe has prepared ways for individuals to realize their desires; all that remains is to accept the gift. Lack of faith in the realization of dreams closes the door to desires.
  4. Visualization. Psychologists recommend imagining dreams in bright colors. The speed of execution of the idea depends on the reality of the picture in the imagination.

How to make the power of thought work, tips:

  • you need to clearly formulate your desire (use numbers, numbers, images);
  • focus on one dream, it must be achievable;
  • set a time frame (in months, years);
  • preserve the mystery of desire;
  • use a vision board depicting gravity.

Vision board

Many people are familiar with the expression “Poverty of thoughts creates a lack of action, and idleness creates poverty in life.” Thoughts determine actions, and steps taken contribute to obtaining results. The broader and bolder your thinking, the more success you will achieve.
