../../Value ideas about the harmonious personality of people of different ages

Definition of the concept

A harmonious personality is a person who has optimally integrated dynamic internal structures, consistency with the outside world, and normal functioning of life. A personality that is harmoniously developed is an individual who has uniform development in all areas of his activity, who has no internal conflicts, and internal harmony is evident. Such an individual has achievements in various directions, but he has special skills or abilities that stand out from the rest.

A person who has a balance between the inner and outer world is called harmonious.

  1. Inner harmony means awareness of one’s own “I”. A person has no internal contradictions, he has realized his strengths and weaknesses, and accepted himself as he is.
  2. External harmony is spoken of when a person does not have any problems with the outside world. The individual has good relationships with relatives, colleagues, friends and even unfamiliar individuals.

Raising a harmonious personality is directly related to the development of life values and motives. For a person to achieve harmony, he must have a balance between the following personal formations:

  • motives,
  • needs,
  • self-esteem,
  • value orientations,
  • image of "I".

Conditions and ways

Harmonious development is the optimal path not only for achieving harmony, but also for unlocking your full potential. But under what conditions the formation of a harmoniously developed personality occurs is difficult to answer unambiguously.

For harmonious development, it is necessary to enrich the mind and feelings, and form the will. Raising a harmoniously developed personality should not focus on any one ability of the individual, but rather, embrace his entire inner world.

Firstly, a person must already have developed the ability to self-control. Otherwise, he simply will not be able to correlate social requirements with his desires. This ability develops through reinforcing actions (praise, rewards) of significant adults. Submission to external demands, the ability to reconcile one’s immediate desires is a necessary condition for development.

Regarding self-control, we can cite the results of Michel's research, namely the famous marshmallow tests, which in some way allowed us to advance in our understanding of success and its criteria. The essence of the experiment was as follows: the child was left alone in the room with a marshmallow or candy, asked not to eat it for a certain amount of time for a reward - a double portion of sweets.

The researchers observed how the child dealt with his desire and how long he was able to hold on. As a result of the tests, those children who coped with the expectation, growing up, had a better quality of life.

Secondly, a harmoniously developed personality cannot be formed without an enriched environment. Diversity is a stimulating factor for the activity of thoughts and feelings.

We recommend: Inclinations and abilities

Thirdly, independence and meaningfulness are important. The more challenges a person solves himself, the faster he develops and the more enthusiastically he establishes connections with the world. In this case, he develops the conviction that he himself is responsible for his own destiny.

Characteristic manifestations of a harmoniously developed person

You can call yourself harmoniously developed if you have the following manifestations:

  • the presence of a calm mood, the predominance of positive emotions,
  • the main support in life is “me myself”, I don’t blame my problems on circumstances,
  • a positive attitude towards oneself, even when certain shortcomings are identified,
  • flexibility of emotional state,
  • having a healthy lifestyle,
  • acceptance of the fact that there is “evil” and “good”, that there is a “dark” and a “light side” in the world,
  • a real view of what is happening in the world around us,
  • good relationships with family members, colleagues and friends,
  • having life goals and achieving them,
  • general life satisfaction,
  • the ability to limit oneself in desires, choose priorities,
  • moderate manifestation of temperament,
  • friendly attitude towards strangers,
  • the ability to spend energy correctly,
  • desire to learn everything new,
  • unity with natural resources, a sense of the beauty of nature,
  • presence of creative activity.

Description of concepts

Other concepts came from harmony:

  • harmonious personality;
  • harmonious development.

It would seem that these are one and the same thing, but in fact the concepts are not synonymous. A person who has found balance and harmony may not always be a harmoniously developed personality.

This concept has its own meaning in every century and culture, so it is difficult to say exactly what it is. Generally speaking, this concept means the aesthetic, intellectual, physical and moral development of a person. Of course, not all people who have achieved harmony can be equally developed in all this. The goal of raising a harmoniously developed personality is to create all the necessary conditions for its comprehensive and harmonious development.

The problem of disharmony

It is also important to know about the characteristic manifestations of a disharmonious personality:

  • isolation,
  • disturbances in the emotional sphere,
  • unmotivated aggression,
  • behavior problems,
  • suspiciousness,
  • presence of doubts and fears.

The presence of the above character traits leads to the development of inadequate self-esteem.

In disharmonious individuals, conscious life and unconscious affects interfere with normal life and personality development. There is an intrapersonal conflict, which leads to the inability to make correct decisions and respond adequately to them even in elementary situations. Both external and internal conditions can influence the development of such conflicts.

  1. External ones are characterized by the inability to satisfy deeply significant motives. A person experiences a contradiction between his desire and what he can actually do. It is important to decide on life priorities. Sometimes it won’t be superfluous to visit a psychologist or psychotherapist, because the problem may be hidden deeply, for example, the presence of childhood psychotrauma is possible.
  2. Internal ones may include subjective unsolvability, the problematic nature of the situation that has arisen. Such an intrapersonal conflict can be resolved only if the individual changes his attitude to a particular case, and he develops new motives that allow him to return to normal life activities.

Harmonious personality

A harmonious personality is a person with an optimally integrated internal dynamic structure, with optimal consistency with the outside world, with optimal functioning and development.

A harmoniously developed personality and a harmonious personality are practically synonymous, although there are certain semantic differences between these concepts. A harmoniously developed personality is a variant of a developed personality, a personality with uniform development of all sides and living without internal conflicts, with internal harmony.

In the article “Value ideas about the harmonious personality of people of different ages”, O.I. Motkov listed the following as signs of an ideal harmonious personality:

  • Predominance of positive emotions and calm mood
  • Good physical well-being in general
  • In general, a positive image of himself, although he also sees his disadvantages
  • Healthy and varied lifestyle
  • Predominant reliance on oneself in life, rather than on external circumstances
  • Flexibility in managing your emotions and actions
  • A sense of proportion in your desires, claims and actions
  • Acceptance of the duality of the World, the presence of both light and dark in it
  • Striving for fairly high, but not maximum achievements
  • Realism of ideas and desires
  • Moderate, unsharp expression of temperament and character traits
  • Satisfaction with life in general
  • Satisfaction with family relationships
  • Satisfaction with relationships with friends
  • Satisfaction with relationships at work (in a study group)
  • Openness to learning new things, creative activity
  • Kindness towards people
  • Feeling the beauty of nature and unity with it
  • Predominant orientation towards universal human values of searching for truth, goodness, beauty and harmonious life
  • The ability to use your life energy economically

A harmonious personality pleases himself and those around him with his mental health, ability to get along with people and good adaptability to a wide range of situations. At the same time, there is no reason to consider a harmonious personality as an ideal for everyone: this is the structure of a person who, in professional activity, chooses a method of activity that is optimal for him personally, without considering himself obligated to work in the mode necessary for the business, when this mode will unnecessarily strain him. Likewise, a harmonious person is not ready to pay with unnecessary internal tension for the sake of high goals: his peace and harmony is more valuable to such a person. Worked - rested, socialized - retired, a little of everything for yourself and others, for health, joy and development. To be a hero, to work to the limit of strength, to perform feats, to devote oneself to one great goal - all this is beyond the interests of a harmonious personality.

Regarding personality

A harmonious person is a person who manages to maintain a good balance between all areas of his life. The main ones are: health, family, work, friends, hobbies/leisure. But it's not enough to just set a proper schedule and spend time on every aspect of your list. Harmonious development is also an internal state.

Calmness and tranquility are something that does not always come to a person, even if he devotes time to all areas of his life. You don’t just need to carry out your daily routine, you need to enjoy every action you take. What's the point of spending time with family or friends if you're not in the mood? No one will enjoy this, which will lead to family and friends trying to avoid meeting you. You need to understand that no one in this world can bring harmony into your soul except ourselves. This path to finding and holding it is very difficult, but it is still worth going through.

About relationships

Harmonious is such a broad concept that can describe almost all areas of human life. It applies to art, to a person as an individual, but it can also describe the relationship between two or more people. Harmonious relationships are when people understand each other well, as people say, “without words.” Most often, lovers are “branded” with this concept. Young people who dote on each other most often describe their relationships as harmonious. They mean that the young man and his significant other are ideal for each other in every way. They have common interests, common friends and common views on life. You should not think that this harmony is imaginary, it is natural, simply fleeting.

But harmonious relationships in a team are a much stronger bond. After all, in a company where more than seven people collaborate, it is difficult to establish friendly relations. But when working on a common project, for example, a scientific project, it is simply necessary that people interact as a single, well-coordinated mechanism. In this case, the work will move quickly and be done efficiently.

Balance

A person whose character is developed in a balanced manner has a variety of qualities. He can be both economical and generous, reserved and vulnerable, cheerful and sensitive. Such a balanced character allows its owner to successfully adapt to external circumstances without any damage to himself.

To correct his behavior, a person with a harmoniously developed character does not need to break his “I”. He just seems to pull out the desired trait without betraying himself.

When harmoniously developed people take any character tests, they get average results. If such an individual is asked to answer a series of questions in order to determine, for example, temperament or type of thinking, you can get approximately an equal number of points in favor of each option.

It is these results that indicate that a person is developed in a balanced way.

It can be difficult for such people to decide on a profession. After all, they do everything about equally well, they like a lot. An excellent way out of this situation would be to define your main passion as your main profession. Other hobbies can become secondary specialties or hobbies. If it is difficult to identify even the main interest, let it be the most profitable area of activity.
