“I don’t want to go to work. I know I need to, but I don’t want to. Monday is a black day on the calendar, Friday is a small holiday. I started being late for work. I can't bring myself to start. I come up with hundreds of small things to do so as not to start. I put it off until the last minute. Not interested, bored, tired. How to force yourself to work? How to find motivation when nothing motivates you anymore?
Yuri Burlan’s training “System-vector psychology” helps to understand what is happening and how to help in this situation.
Rhythm of life
We have evolved and adapted to new conditions over many centuries, but never before has this process taken place so quickly. Many people are completely unsuited to living in the 21st century. Of course, some will say that the person adapted perfectly to the new rules of life, but in fact, the price for this adaptation was high. Not so long ago, people lived in small villages, knew all their neighbors, and any public event like fairs was considered a significant and big event.
Everyone knew from childhood what he would be when he grew up, because many simply inherited the work of their parents. People fell asleep at sunset and woke up at dawn. Every day and year of a person’s life was predictable and understandable. At the moment, fundamental changes are taking place, and all of humanity is in a state of permanent stress.
Causes of stress
We are overstimulated and bombarded with information every day. Mobile phones, televisions, radio, Internet, print media have forever changed human life. And most importantly, we constantly need to make decisions and choices. And this has a very bad effect on willpower. We don't have enough security because life is completely unpredictable. Recently, such fundamental concepts of society as freedom, work, family, intimate life and even patriotism have changed a lot.
A serious crisis has emerged in the search for the meaning of life. Our ancestors always knew where to find it. For example, religion, party and so on. Now we have too much choice, what to believe in and what rules to live by, but there is no understanding of what strict adherence to these canons will give a person. Our brains and attitudes to the real world have been shaped over millennia, as have our reactions to stressful situations. And while people are still young, they do not notice how such a rhythm affects the psyche and health. But the older we get, the more clearly the side aspects of this haste are expressed and logical questions arise: we don’t have the strength to work, what to do in this situation?
How to force yourself to work if you don’t want to
The most powerful motivator, no matter how trite it may sound, is doing what you love. And the reason for this lies in our psyche. Man was born for pleasure, and the greatest pleasure comes from the realization of innate properties.
For example, you were born with great emotional potential, and you work as an accountant. You are ready to experience a storm of feelings every day, but you see nothing except columns of numbers and a narrow circle of colleagues. How to force yourself to work in such a situation? No way. You can use hundreds of motivators - it won’t help.
Work that is not according to your qualities does not bring pleasure. A person can force himself to work in such conditions for some time (or he can be forced by circumstances), but this is the path to dissatisfaction with life, psychosomatic illnesses and apathy.
It is for this reason that people often look for something they love, something that would inspire them. When you open your eyes in the morning, you want to live and you want to work. Because you like what you do. Our desires move us through life.
What if you don’t know what you want? You need to study your nature. At the training “System-vector psychology” we will learn about eight vectors - eight groups of human desires and properties given for their implementation. Learning to recognize your true, and not imposed, desires is the path to a job you enjoy.
Thus, the owner of the skin vector will be happy to create and develop a business. A person with an anal vector will enthusiastically engage in painstaking manual work or analytics. He will become a real expert in his field. The main thing is not to rush him.
What if I’ve tried a lot of things and every attempt ends in the same thing? There could be two reasons:
- You are a polymorph, that is, you have several vectors, and you cannot implement them all at once in your work. Therefore, you change, trying one of your properties, then another.
- You are the owner of a sound vector that is not satisfied with simple activities, but seeks depth and meaning in everything.
What to do in this case? When you understand which vectors you own, it is much easier to make decisions about choosing a job. Perhaps the solution for the polymorph is to periodically change the work in order to include unused vectors in the implementation. Or maybe not change, but choose a hobby in which properties that are not used at work will be used. Then your work will become easier.
A person with a sound vector can understand that not using his powerful abstract intelligence is like death. He loves to think, create ideas, technologies, and is also capable, like no one else, of understanding the structure and psyche of another person. Perhaps he will be able to find the necessary depth, and therefore interest, where he works now, but does not use his full potential. Or he will look for a place for himself according to the scale of his intellect.
How to force yourself to work at work: motivator is different from motivator
It seems to you that you have already found your place, but... at first it was interesting, and then it became difficult. This is fine. Laziness is in human nature. Two forces initially live in him - the force of libido (the desire for life) and the force of mortido (the desire for static, peace, laziness). The older a person gets, the stronger the power of mortido manifests itself in him, the more effort he has to make to perform an action. How to deal with this? How to force yourself to work when you don’t feel like it?
They offer motivators. Someone is afraid of being left in old age without a pension, and this forces him to work. Someone earns money for an apartment - the mortgage does not allow them to relax. Some people hang photos of cats in their workplace to cheer themselves up. However, there is no one recipe for everyone. Everyone's motivators are different. They also depend on our vectors.
Money, salary, social status, the opportunity to buy branded items will stimulate only those with the skin vector to work, but for a person with the anal vector, such goals will only cause irritation and annoyance. It is easier for him to motivate himself by caring for his family - the desire to build a house for loved ones, to earn money for his children’s education. A person with a visual vector loves to communicate, help other people, give gifts, and this helps him stay in the workplace. A sound engineer cares about an interesting task, a challenge, and not about sitting his pants down at work. Deep in the thought process, he may forget to eat.
There is another resource that is rarely used because few realize its power. Make efforts not for yourself, but for the sake of others. It happens that you already have everything, then it is almost impossible to make efforts, just as it is impossible to fill a full glass. Lack is suffering. She makes you move your paws. And when there is no shortage, there is no incentive to work.
Then it's good to ask yourself a couple of questions. If I am alone, on my own, on earth where there is no one but me, do I experience joy in life? If I don't bring any benefit to this world, then why am I? Man is a social being. When he feels needed and in demand, he feels psychological balance. There are no fears for the future. No loneliness. You are respected and appreciated. Don’t be ashamed in front of people, because you live life to the fullest, and not just smoke the sky. This is a very good state that is worth experiencing once, so that it constantly looms ahead as a desired carrot that you want to follow.
It is especially important for a man to be needed, because he was created as a giver - to a woman, to society. When there is no beloved woman at whose feet you want to lay all your victories and achievements, you don’t want to explore new horizons.
How to force yourself to work at home. When habit is the key to success
Working at home is even more difficult. Refrigerator in the access area. Relatives want attention. Hobbies are always at hand. The cat walks on the keyboard and ruins documents. The boss does not stand menacingly over his shoulder and does not point to his watch.
It seems that forcing yourself to work from a whip is easier than through your own efforts. Especially when you haven’t been taught to make efforts since childhood. It is necessary to somehow take the will into a fist and... But something doesn’t work out. The TV beckons. The sun is shining. Screw it, it's work...
Here, more than anywhere else, the magic words are important - priorities, schedule, plan. Yes, not all people are capable of effectively organizing themselves. But then they shouldn’t try freelancing. These are, for example, owners of the anal vector or an undeveloped skin vector (if he was not helped in childhood to develop the innate ability to organize time, space and energy). But the anal-skin combination of vectors is well suited - both perseverance and the ability to self-organize.
But the law applies to everyone: habit is second nature. And it is developed over about 40 days of conscious work on oneself. Find a place in your busy life schedule for work for the benefit of society, make it a priority for this time and strictly adhere to the chosen direction. It will be hard at first, but then it becomes a habit.
It’s good for some people to set aside morning hours for work - it’s quiet, no one bothers you. And then the day is free - you’ve done your job, go for a walk. Some people, on the contrary, work better at night. And someone works in shifts - a week after a week. Here everyone chooses for themselves. But knowing your vector set makes it much easier to decide on a work schedule.
Where does the energy go?
When a person focuses all his energy on solving work and everyday issues, a serious imbalance begins. This is what ultimately leads to emotional burnout. And this is natural, because if you do something systematically and do not see any progress, then the meaning of the classes begins to be lost. Stress, in turn, begins to negatively affect health. And then thoughtless expenses and impulsive actions begin, because everyone needs to feel happy, and many find a chance to do this by spending money.
Accordingly, in order to somehow even out the situation, you need to work, and there is no longer time for ambition and growth, and friendships deteriorate. Many people make a serious mistake: when they have no strength to work, they try to relax in a controlled manner. But the fact is that our consciousness is unable to control such voluntary processes, and, accordingly, we only strain the body even more, trying to force it to do something. It’s not for nothing that psychologists say that the more you crave to be happy, the more likely you are to become depressed.
How to understand that there is a problem
The worst thing is when a person with a problem has no idea that it exists. He finds many different explanations for her, continuing to worsen his situation. Below are general indicators that will tell us why there is no desire to work - due to ordinary laziness or real problems with motivation:
- Avoidance . An obsessive desire to avoid places or situations that could add unnecessary work. A canonical example is avoiding children so as not to devote time and energy to them. Why, if you can sit in front of the TV or computer. At work, this manifests itself in ignoring clients and the desire to kill time in any way before the end of the working day.
- Distraction . If there is no desire to work, and whenever we try to start, we almost automatically switch to another task (for example, surfing the net, reading blogs or articles, plans for the evening, communicating with loved ones), then we have problems.
- Trivialization . We convince ourselves (or at least try to) that the task at hand is not that important. For example, “I’m putting off cleaning because the room isn’t that dirty anymore” or “I won’t stay late today. I’ll do it tomorrow with fresh strength.”
- Comparisons . We compare our situation with even worse ones. For example, “Yes, I’m completely overwhelmed with papers. It’s okay - some in the department haven’t even started reporting yet.”
- Humor . Making jokes about your “successes” while ridiculing other people's efforts to achieve their goals. For example, “Look how Kolyan got tired of his new position. He’s already aged 10 years. But I told you that he doesn’t need this promotion.”
- Shifting the blame . A typical argument is that my failures are due to external circumstances beyond my control.
- Eternal deadline . It all starts with an argument in the spirit of: “I won’t start now, I work more productively in the evening” or “No, I’ll start after the weekend. It doesn’t matter that there is a lot to do - you need to have a good time before working days.”
Balance
Only by balancing his life can a person get rid of the feeling of running in circles and become happy. Unfortunately, modern society has serious problems with this. In the book "From Urgent to Important" by Steve McCletchy, there is a study that states that 88 percent of people are simply unable to make a choice between their personal life and work. At the same time, 64 percent are sure that work takes all their energy, and for 57 percent it is a serious problem that they cannot solve. But how to achieve balance in a modern economy?
After all, no one cares that there is no strength to work, everyone talks about unemployment, the crisis and so on. Anyone is ready to take on more responsibilities just to stay at their job and not lose a position that gives at least the illusion of stability. In the end, people simply do their best to meet other people's expectations, but in reality this is not a balance, but just an attempt to survive. Balance will not help to find the distribution of time between work and personal relationships. The desires of the psyche cannot be experienced according to a schedule, and such separation only leads to even greater stress. So where is the balance? I don’t have the strength to work, what should I do? Set a goal and strive for success. Moreover, this does not mean getting better and more, but the movement itself towards the goal. The most effective way to stop fatigue and burnout is to seek development in all aspects of human life.
In general, burnout is sometimes the beginning of a better life
We have already written about people who burned out but found themselves in a new business.
Svetlana Koleda was a partner in a packaging company. After a couple of years, she realized that this field was not for her.
“I left my first business abruptly and decisively. With the funds from the sale of a car and real estate, with the help of my parents and the support of loved ones, I was able to start my new business,” says Svetlana.
Now she is the founder of the moonlight room concept store, and is happy with her choice.

Entrepreneur Andrei Vasilevsky describes his burnout this way: “I came to work and was already tired. On the second day after the vacation, I found myself in the same state as before. The money stopped warming up. I felt like I was missing out on something very valuable, wasting my time..."

Marketer Rita Medved, now a partner at the Marxist consulting agency and director of the Capital business school, also experienced burnout:
“It all started with a search for endless self-improvement. More tasks, higher standards, higher demands on yourself and others. Working hard."
In the project where she still works, Rita “found interesting work, new meanings, and an understanding that not only the goal is important, but also the path to it.”

And even if you have never felt burnt out, don’t forget to rest.

Preventing emotional exhaustion
If you decide to deal with stress, disappointment and fatigue, then the main thing to do is to pull yourself together and find new meaning to move forward. It’s worth deciding why you don’t have the strength to work. Perhaps your goals are unattainable or you have no patience at all and are in too much of a hurry to see meaningful results. If a person admits that he is in a vicious circle, then he is already halfway to breaking it. There are many ways to cope with emotional burnout, and no matter which one you choose, there is always a chance to cope with this condition.
No strength to look for a job. How to deal with this?
Usually, before looking for a new place, you first want to rest a little, gain strength, and immediately make a lot of plans. As a result, in 70 percent of cases, people approach the moment “I urgently need a job” in a state of frustration.
That is, they understand that they need to act, write a resume, and be active. But due to the fact that many plans were created, of which not all were realized, a slight sadness began. And by the end of the time allotted for rest, sadness smoothly turned into reluctance to do anything.
We spend most of our time at work on weekdays, and some on weekends. Therefore, it is advisable to look for a place taking into account all your wishes. If you go to work like you're going to hard labor, then it's not at all surprising that your brain is trying with all its might to delay your return there. On the other hand, if a profession brings pleasure, then searching for it does not cause negativity, but, on the contrary, fuels interest and makes your palms itch in anticipation of interesting projects and tasks.
Of course, there are force majeure situations when you need to urgently find at least something due to a difficult financial situation or an urgent need for money. But I’ll say right away - you shouldn’t be surprised that after a while you will be overtaken by emotional burnout and stress, or they will simply come together and follow you around.
The phrase “Work should be loved” seems a little fairy-tale, but in reality it is not. The very first step in this direction is to understand what you want? It is you, not your parents, life partners, girlfriends and friends. What is your wish?
Maybe you work as a sales manager, but you want to work as a guide in the Hermitage, you have dreamed of this all your life. It is often very difficult to separate your own desires from “like everyone else”: Tanya has a Chanel bag, and I want the same brand, Sveta has a vacation every six months to the Maldives, and I want the same. And then it turns out that you came to the Maldives, and you are mortally bored and uninterested there, you want the Black Sea coast, corn on the beach, a bunch of people around and the mysterious cry of seagulls nearby.
How to understand what you really want? The simplest technique is to imagine yourself already in your desire, as if it has already come true. Have you dreamed of being the boss of a large company? Imagine yourself to them, but not from pictures from social networks, but feel yourself in the process: you got up early in the morning in your country house, drank coffee and got into the car. Imagine the level and quantity of communications of the big boss per day, the level of decisions he makes, the pace of life, the amount of personal time, responsibility... Have you imagined yourself like this? Liked? Are you ready for this? What are you willing to sacrifice to make your dream come true? Or maybe you look at your desire one-sidedly?
A versatile approach to any issue is characteristic of a truly mature person who is ready for any changes in his life. Of course, it is impossible to foresee everything, but if the main aspects of your fulfilled desire suit you, then why not?
If you want to change your type of activity or cannot clearly imagine what you want from your future job, there are several options for how to decide. A bunch of tests on the Internet (both paid and free), working with a career consultant, working with a psychologist, or all of these options together.
As for the search itself, if you really want to find a position that you like and is financially pleasant, then you need to approach the issue systematically. Of course, there are cases when a person suddenly found himself unemployed, posted a resume and got the job of his dreams, but this is rather the exception that emphasizes the rule.
Systematicity in job search means that the greatest results come from a planned algorithm of well-thought-out actions:
- writing a competent resume and cover letter
— search for suitable vacancies
— responses, sending out resumes, searching for employer contacts
- preparation for interviews
— passing all entrance tests (tests, cases, business games, etc.)
And if you expect a positive result at the end, then you need to spend your resources, time, and energy on all these stages. Which, of course, you should have.
At the same time, you shouldn’t perform a lot of chaotic actions on the principle “just to do it” - you will get tired and demotivated, and this most likely will not bring success. There is no need to send out your resume to everyone as a carbon copy with the standard cover letter “Hello, please take a look at my resume.” The probability that it will go to the trash is 99.9%. The famous philosopher and scientist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg said: “Trying to do everything at once means doing nothing.” Act with precision and thoughtfulness, like a sniper.
If you feel that you are not in a resourceful state to search for a job right now, there are several options: postpone the search for some time (if you have it), try to get yourself into a working state on your own, or turn to specialists for help. What is important: do not be shy to seek help from psychologists and career consultants. After all, when we have a toothache, we don’t treat it ourselves, but go to the doctor, right? And when we need to protect our rights in court, we turn to a certified lawyer, because he is a professional and understands legal issues. The situation with job search is similar - a professional knows not only how to set you up for a search, but also how to arrive at the result in the shortest possible way.
If you still have any questions or have any topics for discussion, please write them in the comments, and I will certainly cover them in the following articles!
Tip two
Don't give in to impulsive impulses. The main reason why we do not have the strength to work is the desire to suppress difficult to bear experiences. And the simplest method is impulsive behavior, which does not always remain without consequences. But, unfortunately, even the most impulsive actions do not help get rid of stress; moreover, they have no effect on solving the problems that have arisen, and more often they even worsen the situation. We all sometimes want to hide so that people will leave us alone, so we may say too much, buy alcohol or take medicine. But you shouldn’t do this, wait, calm down, and start acting only when you understand that emotions do not interfere with sane thinking.
Tip four
Nothing helps you sort the thoughts in your head into categories and find a solution on how to proceed further than sports or physical labor. Here everyone must choose what he likes best - running in the park or chopping wood in the village and planting potatoes. But if you take your hands and unload your head for a while, it will help get rid of apathy and get out of a state of emotional burnout. After physical exercise and fresh air, few people will say: I don’t want to work, I don’t have the strength, because they will definitely appear.
Tip five
It is worth deciding to make changes if the problem has become serious. If your job is too hard and takes all your juice out of you, try to find a more suitable place to serve. Are you depressed by a relationship that has been going nowhere for a long time and has reached a dead end? Think about whether you are on the right track with this person or is it high time to break off these senseless attempts to maintain a non-existent union? But do everything thoughtfully and according to plan.
Each of us sometimes feels like we have no strength to work anymore. And at this point, sometimes it’s time to start a plan to escape from the stressful situation that is taking all our energy. You don’t have to implement it right away, but its very presence will reduce your stress level and give you more strength. But remember: for everything to work, you need to do everything not to depend on the situation. This means that if you decide to change jobs, then do not take out a loan that will tie you to this place and will not give you the opportunity to move forward.
Ways of personal motivation for work
Personal motivation is a powerful tool that encourages an individual to develop and improve themselves. If all your thoughts are focused on finding a reason not to go to work tomorrow, you need to take decisive action. By understanding how to want to work, you can forever get rid of the uncomfortable feeling of a cornered animal, which has to obey circumstances against its will. There are three groups of incentives to work:
- Awareness of the need to benefit society, a desire to provide assistance of a different nature. Based on similar motives, doctors, teachers, and firefighters choose their profession.
- Receiving material rewards, which implies the use of benefits and the acquisition of necessary things for oneself and members of one’s family. Satisfying spiritual and material needs in the modern world is possible if financial resources are available.
- Satisfying the need for self-realization. Work, considered as the basis of self-expression, allows a person to express his innate desire to create.
Society encourages the working person. In this regard, the individual experiences a feeling of pride as a result of recognition of his merits and respect from other members of society. Motivation promotes the realization of talents and increases social status, helps in achieving goals, and makes you move forward. Motivation is the energy that fuels an individual's aspirations.
Motivation is based on the goals that an individual sets for himself. Personal motives encourage you to do what you like. Motivation under the influence of external and internal factors can subside and regress; motives are a constant value that depends on the psychotype, characteristics of thinking and worldview of the individual. Once you understand your motives, you will be able to influence your motivation. How to increase work motivation:
- Eliminate demotivating factors. You should not focus on results that, in the individual’s opinion, do not satisfy the boss’s requirements, goals and objectives. From the point of view of increasing motivation, it is more correct to think more about the successes achieved in the work field.
- Set realistic, achievable goals for yourself. It is impossible to embrace the immensity. When taking on a new project, you need to realistically assess your strengths and capabilities. If the boss has entrusted a responsible task that requires more knowledge and experience than the performer has, it is worth discussing the likely difficulties and results in advance.
- See opportunities that arise from performing routine work duties. If you have to carry out tasks that do not bring you pleasure, it is better to switch unpleasant thoughts and the resulting negative emotions into a positive direction. To do this, it is enough to think about the material reward that is due for the work done and about expanding financial opportunities to satisfy your desires.
According to American psychologists: V. Vroom (Victor Wroom) and E. Deci (Edward Deci), the more an individual is satisfied with his work, the more personal motives he has for doing it. And vice versa. Motives and job satisfaction are interrelated values that influence each other with an increasing effect. Their compatriot, social psychologist Douglas McGregor, argued that work itself can bring moral satisfaction to an individual without the participation of external factors (material reward, social approval).
This is due to the natural need of a person for physical and mental work, as well as for rest or entertainment. Thanks to the biological mechanisms inherent in nature, the average man in the street, under certain conditions (favorable production environment, low labor intensity, loyal control system), is able to voluntarily take responsibility for solving work problems, while making every effort, using all his creative potential.
Based on these theories, it is easy to draw conclusions that a person a priori has a desire to work. If you are reluctant to go to work, it means that the natural mechanisms of biological self-regulation are malfunctioning. Having found out the reason for the state when you don’t work at your job and don’t want to go to work at all, you will be able to understand what factors negatively affect the process of personal motivation.
If you don’t want to work, you need to remember the power of self-motivation and do things that will help strengthen your desire to get a job. Perhaps the optimal incentive to search for a vacant position and work in general will be the thought of traveling, buying a new gadget, or an expensive gift that in the future you will be able to give to a loved one, parents, children, or family members.
A few more tips
There are a couple more simple rules that increase productivity that every person should know. No strength to work? Think about how you spend your time. It is very important not to go to bed tired. Just falling exhausted on the bed and hoping that the strength will be restored on its own is illogical. In this state, you are likely to drive yourself into a vicious circle of fatigue and burnout. It’s very easy to cope with this - sports, walks before bed or a banal contrast shower. Second and very important - ventilate the room where you sleep. Our brain needs fresh air, so you shouldn’t fall asleep in stuffy and musty rooms, as this reduces the quality of rest.
It is also advisable to exclude all information resources a few hours before bedtime. This means not watching TV, not exploring interesting Internet resources, and not conducting active correspondence on social networks. The brain receives a lot of information, and instead of resting and restoring energy resources, it will analyze and assimilate the received data. And it doesn’t matter whether you watched a news report or a TV series - this will harm normal, full replenishment of strength. And lastly, try to wake up on schedule, at the same time. This will reduce stress and become a healthy habit in life.
How to deal with the biggest excuses
Procrastination is not only associated with illness: lack of discipline also plays a role. Watch yourself, and you will notice that you are coming up with excuses not to take on the task. Do you want to get rid of this habit? Use preventive strategies to combat common excuses, as suggested by Forbes:
- “I have a lot to do, I don’t have time to do everything.” If you catch yourself thinking such thoughts, review your routine and prioritize. You may be distracted by unimportant tasks: answering emails, making unnecessary phone calls, watching the news while your main work is idle. Remember that being busy and being productive are not the same thing! Then imagine what will happen if you continue to be lazy. Visualizing the consequences is a good way to deal with downtime.
- “It’s easy, I can do it in time.” By not taking tasks seriously, you risk setting deadlines incorrectly. Remind yourself of the end goal of your work and get down to business.
- “I don’t feel like it.” Procrastination is not always caused by poor health or poor time management. Sometimes you just don't like a certain activity! Self-discipline will help: do not take on other tasks until you complete the one you dislike. Try to make it more interesting by finding new strategies to achieve results or working on improving the process.
Using these techniques, I overcame laziness, so I am confident in their effectiveness.
Controlling your own life
Very often, people who wonder how to force themselves to work if they have no strength belong to a certain type of personality. They have long lost control over their own lives and for this they are angry, and sometimes even despise themselves. For them, every day is a test, because they clearly experience the feeling that they are in a series of repeating events. They are pressured by work, debts, responsibilities, bad relationships, and sometimes even health problems caused by this very stress. Such people have absolutely no strength to go to work, because everything around them is continuous responsibilities, and they have absolutely no control over anything.
This is the lowest motivational point, productivity at zero, because it is fatigue and stress that control their condition and attitude towards life. But if you manage to overcome this state, see new ways of development, then you will be able to break out of the vicious circle and regain control over your own life. If the tips suggested above do not help you, and you have already tried everything, but cannot influence the situation in any way, then it is time to seek professional help. And remember - sometimes such a state is just a push for your psyche to make serious changes that will improve your standard of living and make it better.
When excuses hide fear
It happens that banal excuses hide inner insecurity. Analyze the sensations:
- “I don't know where to start.” When faced with complex problems, people do find themselves stumped and unsure of how to approach the problem. The solution is obvious: any steps are more effective than simple ones. The main thing is not to let fear paralyze you. Break your work into steps and set short-term, realistic goals. You will move the needle, and the task will turn from impossible to achievable.
- “I'm afraid I won't cope.” You have been waiting for a long time to be assigned to a project that interests you, but as soon as you received it, you were overcome by doubts. You think: “What if it doesn’t work out? What if I get fired after failure?” You focus on avoiding failure: by not working on a project, you are not showing a lack of skill. But this is the main mistake, because procrastination is already a failure. Tune in for the best and think about the bonuses you will receive if you complete the task. Worrying and imagining failure increases your stress levels, so practice positive thinking.
Can't get to work? Don't beat yourself up: feeling guilty will not serve as a source of inspiration, and you need to think about the good. Celebrate even small progress, and over time you will bring procrastination under control.
