Time flew by and bookstores began to close. I began to worry, to rush to achieve my goal and still buy this book. I went to the third store, but she wasn’t there either.   1. Get enough sleep. It's no secret that healthy sleep for a person is 8 hours a day. During sleep, a person rests both mentally and physically. Problems, fear and anxiety that tormented you during the day can be unexpectedly resolved in a dream - a rested brain provides answers to questions that hovered during the day. A person’s mood, appearance, health, tone directly depend on sleep;
  2. Eat right. Vitamin deficiency, that is, insufficient consumption of seasonal vitamins, negatively affects health, both physical and psychological. For problems associated with anxiety in the soul, special attention should be paid to foods that promote the production of the hormone serotonin;
  3. Be physically active. Regularly performing simple physical exercises will improve the metabolic process in the body, which is closely related to the mental component of human health;
  4. Breathe fresh air, take walks for at least an hour a day;
  5. Limit or completely avoid the use of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and other substances that cause unhealthy mental activity. As mentioned earlier, the substances they contain have a depressing effect on the psyche, causing anxiety and fear.

Anxiety in my soul. What to do?

Where does anxiety in the soul come from? Many people begin to experience some kind of oppressive feeling. Everything seems to be normal, we don’t see any problems, but there is a feeling in our hearts as if something terrible is about to happen. Sound familiar?

You are not alone. Almost all people experience this feeling throughout their lives, but some experience it chronically. To answer the question of what to do about this, you first need to understand what anxiety actually is.

Anxiety is a feeling related to fear, but unlike it, it does not have a clear cause.

However, this does not mean that there is no reason. There is always a reason. This could be some unresolved life situation, health problems, something changed in the environment, as well as abuse of various psychoactive substances.

Is there anxiety in the soul for no reason?

Many clients come to me having been feeling anxious for several months. They often say that everything in their life seems to be normal, there is no reason for alarm, but it always turns out in the end that this is actually not the case.

Each person’s psyche contains special algorithms that allow them to identify dangerous moments in life. Some of them are genetically embedded in us, but many are shaped by our experiences.

We constantly perceive a huge amount of information, but much of it does not reach our consciousness. However, our brain still processes it. In case some information did not reach our consciousness, but the “forget” algorithm worked. For a while, this works, but still, somewhere on the periphery of a person’s consciousness, there remains a tick that something is wrong.

It's the same as turning off the siren when the alarm goes off. It seems like I can’t hear anything, but some red light is blinking.

  • Underestimation of emotional shocks. People often underestimate how much certain situations affect them. For example, a person has some kind of grief, but he begins to deny the importance of this event for himself. If a person acts this way, he can really think that everything is fine with him. The problem is that his emotions don't think so.
  • Sluggish conflict situation. It happens that in a person’s life a conflict has arisen that is in an implicit, hidden form. It seems like nothing concrete, but there is a feeling that “clouds are gathering.”
  • Change of environment.
    Sometimes some detail changes in life, which seems to be unnoticeable, but something is wrong. This is just an example of the “algorithm: the same forest, the same air and the same water, but he did not return from the battle.” The problem is that we often don't realize that something is important to us, and when it disappears, anxiety arises.
  • Neurosis. If you do nothing about the feeling of anxiety, it can develop into a new quality that will be chronic in nature. For example, anxiety may begin to be associated with some extraneous event. As a result, a phobia may develop.
  • Alcohol abuse.
    Sometimes anxiety is purely chemical in nature. For example, overindulging can cause brain chemistry to become unbalanced. The production of “happiness hormones” is disrupted, and a person feels this as anxiety in the soul. One evening with alcohol can be worth five days of oppressive anxiety. If a person begins to fill this feeling with alcohol again, then he begins to fall into an “emotional debt hole,” which can end in alcoholic psychosis.
  • Endocrine disorders. Quite often there is a situation when a person has problems with the functioning of the endocrine glands. This can cause a variety of emotional reactions, including depression and anxiety.
  • What to do with anxiety in your soul?

    Dealing with anxiety is a long and multidimensional process that requires the work of a specialist. However, if for some reason you cannot contact a psychologist, you can try to cope with it yourself.

    The first thing you should do is check your health. Sign up for a clinic and see the doctors. It's useful anyway. Only after you have ruled out health-related causes can you move on to working directly with anxiety.

    • Normalize your lifestyle.

    The work of our psyche is closely connected with the body. Many causes of mental problems are related to poor lifestyle choices.

    1. Normalize your sleep schedule. A person should sleep at least 8 hours. If this is not done, then an imbalance appears in the body. The production of neurotransmitters and hormones is disrupted, which is directly related to mood, mental and physical tone, and health.
    2. Normalize your diet. If the body receives an insufficient amount of nutrients, vitamins, etc., this also has a very serious impact on our physical and psychological health. Eat more cheese and cottage cheese, this promotes the production of serotonin.
    3. Normalize physical activity. Physical activity is a necessary condition for normalizing metabolic processes in the body, which are very closely related to the human psyche.
    4. Spend at least one hour a day outdoors.
    5. Do not consume alcohol, tobacco or other psychoactive substances. They depress the nervous system.

    If you follow these recommendations, then the anxiety in your soul will definitely decrease a little, due to the fact that the resource of your psyche will increase.

    • Remember the events that happened immediately before the anxiety appeared.

    Quite often, people do not connect the situation with their emotional state. They say: “No! This has nothing to do with it!” Quite often it turns out to be quite the opposite.

    Ask yourself questions:

    1. Did you quarrel with someone?
    2. Have you received any critical comments? Fair?
    3. Do you have any problems in your life that have been unresolved for years?
    4. Do you have any “debt” (in the broad sense)?
    5. Have you experienced severe emotional distress?

    Try to answer these questions honestly. You may notice something that was hidden from you. There are things in people's lives that they don't want to know about, but which still affect them.

    If this does not help, then you should consult a psychologist.

    How can a psychologist help treat anxiety?

    There is a direction in psychotherapy that has shown the highest effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety disorders. This direction is called CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy).
