A step-by-step self-development program for those who want the best in life!

Did you know that the more and better you understand yourself, the happier you become? This is why you need a 6-step self-development program!

Sometimes we think that we know everything about ourselves. But this is far from true!!!

When you try out the proposed program of self-development and self-knowledge in practice, you will learn THINGS about yourself that you don’t even know about now...

Let's check?!

6-step self-development program

The first step of self-development is “Always watch your reaction!”

Observe your own reaction for at least a few days. Pay attention to:

  • that you do,
  • what you think while you are doing something,
  • what do you feel while you are thinking something,
  • what do you say to others
  • what feelings do you have during a conversation,
  • How does your reaction depend on these sensations?

Notice what makes you upset and what makes you happy? What do you enjoy doing and what do you not? Which people bring you joy and which bring you discomfort?

All these observations will help you understand your inclinations and interests.

The second step on the path to self-development is “Never judge yourself!”

Have you ever thought about how guilt affects your life and your ability to develop yourself?

As a rule, this feeling affects us much more than we think. Unlike anger, anger, and irritation, which go away with the release of negative energy, guilt does not go away from self-flagellation; on the contrary, it only intensifies.

To test this, think about this right now:

  • Do you have anything to feel guilty about?
  • What feeling comes inside you when you feel guilty?
  • How does this feeling of guilt affect your behavior?

And now, in order to once and for all remove from the recesses of your memory all references to your own guilt, tell yourself mentally (or better yet out loud):

“I always acted in the best way that I could have done, given the experience that was at my disposal at the time.”

Agree, you don’t wake up in the morning thinking: “What could I do that bad?” And no one wakes up. All our actions and deeds initially have the best intentions (for ourselves or for others).

And if it later turns out that you could have done better, then this becomes clear only later, when you see the completed situation as a whole. Do you understand? Only after gaining experience can you say to yourself: “I am guilty.” But at that moment you could not have done better, you did what you could and did it in the best possible way (after all, if something better had occurred to you, you would have done something better).

The third step of self-development is “Identify your strengths and weaknesses!”

If you know what your temperament is, what your self-esteem is, and how you feel about money, you will know, firstly, your strengths and weaknesses, and secondly, how you influence other people.

The fourth step of self-development is “Master meditation!”

You may have already heard quite a lot about the benefits of meditation¹, but that’s not what we’re going to talk about here! The beauty of meditation is that it can be used for so many different purposes! This is one of the best tools for self-development, since you can work in meditation ON ANYTHING (attracting money, improving your health, improving your appearance, developing internal qualities, activating superpowers, etc.), AND ANYWHERE (using visualization, internal images, self-hypnosis and etc.).

All you need to use meditation is to learn how to enter various trance states.

The fifth step on the path to self-development is “Keep a diary!”

No matter how strange it may sound, a diary is a tool with which you can become better, smarter, happier and more brilliant.

If you keep a diary and write down all the events and thoughts that seem important to you, write about your feelings, intentions and desires, and then review it once a week, great ideas, the shortest path to your goal, and important realizations may come to your mind. Also, by looking at past thoughts in a new way, you can sort out what is no longer valuable to you.

The sixth step of self-development is “Find out an opinion about yourself”

Ask your family and close friends how they feel about you. What do they think about you, what kind of person do they consider you? Ask them to answer honestly. Listening to their answers, you will see yourself from the outside, and this is very important! Feedback from other people (both positive and negative) can be invaluable!

The seventh step of self-development is “Determine your future path!”

This is perhaps the most important step of all! Why? Because unlike the previous steps, it is not about your past and your present, but about your future.

Surely you have heard the expression: “Whatever you call the boat, that’s how it will float.” And in order for you to sail into the future with a fair wind, without storms and tsunamis, you need right now to put aside all extraneous thoughts and affairs that may await you, and take 2, maximum 3 minutes to answer these questions for yourself :

  • What is most important to me?
  • What are my core values?
  • What am I grateful for in life?
  • What brings me joy?
  • What frustrates me the most?
  • What is my goal?

Once you realize these answers, the future will no longer be something vague, scary and dangerous for you. This self-development program is incredibly effective. Now you have all the tools to manage your life.

Which area of activity/business will bring you success in the shortest possible time? What is your purpose?

A consistent self-development plan

Reading self-development books

The first place I would recommend starting self-development is by reading books.

TOP 28: List of books for self-development | The best in recent years

At one time I started reading books and then stopped. I read classics like Stephen King and didn’t even think that there were more useful books. Books that develop you.

And then I learned about the work of Napoleon Hill - “The Law of Success.” It was with him that my self-development began.

I read in a book that in order to achieve success, you first need to set a goal. This is actually what the next point will be about.

Setting goals

Setting a goal means identifying the reason why you live.

The main requirement is to clearly formulate what you want to achieve. Imagine meeting your future self. Now ask this person (yourself) the following questions:

  • What does he do?
  • Where does he live?
  • Notice what he's wearing.
  • What is his posture and gait?

Approximate goal setting

When setting a goal, follow these rules:

  1. The goal should not be general and superficial.
  2. Set realistically achievable goals.
  3. Write your goals down on paper.
  4. Set goals for 5 years, a year, a month, a week and a day.

Planning

Now it's time to plan.

To live according to a plan or without: why is it better to plan?

The goal you have set is the final point. A plan will help you get there.

The task is to split the main goal into several small ones. And achieve each one in turn.

I have a visual planning scheme:

PS My goal is to move to another city.

Scheme on which the move is planned

Planning your day

Equally important is how you plan your day. After all, if you have a plan for the year, but no plan for the day, then you are unlikely to achieve your goal.

Give this 15 minutes in the morning or evening. Write a to-do list for today and get started.

Example of plans and goals for the day

Developing self-discipline

Self-development cannot do without self-discipline. And in general, everything that I described above will not last long without discipline.

Self-development means working hard on yourself every day. If you give up, you can lose a lot. Therefore, I advise you to read my article on the topic of self-discipline: “How to develop discipline and willpower in yourself: 11 ways + 5 books for developing discipline.”

5. Finding a hobby

Hobbies are a great way to take your mind off constant self-improvement. You can find a hobby that combines business with pleasure. Here is a list of things to do that serve as relaxation and development at the same time:

  • Reading
  • Learning foreign languages
  • Biking
  • Collecting
  • Writing, etc.

In general, do whatever you like.

Financial literacy

Don't forget about financial education. Dedicate the same amount of time to it as to your basic education.

The most accessible way to gain knowledge about money is to read books about finance. Here is a list of books you should read first:

  • "The Richest Man in Babylon" - George Samuel Clason
  • "Think and Grow Rich" - Napoleon Hill
  • "Rich Dad Poor Dad" - Robert Kiyosaki
  • “Cash Flow Quadrant” – Robert Kiyosaki

You can do basic things like:

  1. Keep records of income and expenses. Let's talk about this in more detail later.
  2. Save some money.

Even with these things, you will know your financial situation exactly and will surely increase your profits.

Health, sports, nutrition

Spend at least 30 minutes a day on sports and within a couple of weeks you will feel better. To this it is also worth adding proper nutrition. Just give up flour and sweets, that's enough.

Mastering communication skills

The ability to communicate with people, build relationships and maintain a conversation is a very important component in modern society. Despite this, schools and universities do not teach such skills. Therefore, all we can do is read the most popular book on relationships with people - “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

The author's main tips:

  • Show genuine interest in people.
  • Don't argue.
  • Praise more.
  • Address people by name.
  • Talk about topics that are interesting to your interlocutor.

Is it necessary to follow the plan?

Not necessarily, you can forget about it and read the articles in any order. I'm just offering a choice, just as Julio Cortázar, the author of the postmodern novel Hopscotch, did: he gave the reader the opportunity to choose the order of reading the chapters, either to use the author's order, or to read in the order that the reader chooses. So I say: read my site at your convenience, but if you don’t know where to start, how to continue, how to test yourself and understand whether you are on the right path, then it is better to follow this plan.

It is possible that you can skip some steps if you realize that they are not necessary for you. For example, the step “fighting bad habits” may not be completed if you do not have such habits.

List of useful exercises

These simple exercises are perfect for those who are just starting self-development.

The Miracle Morning Method

The “Miracle Morning” method includes a set of 6 classes in the morning. Here they are in order:

  1. Get ready in the evening. Say to yourself several times “Tomorrow I will get up at 6:00 (choose any time). I will feel refreshed and well-rested.”
  2. Cheer up in the morning. Drink a glass of water, wash your face and do some exercise.
  3. Do a meditation. Let's talk about this in more detail later.
  4. Write down your goals and plans for the day.
  5. 15 minutes of reading.
  6. Any other matter. For me, this is studying English.

2. Charging

From the very morning, the body needs to wake up, and the most effective way to do this is to exercise.

Charging will take a maximum of 7-8 minutes. A couple of rotations with your head, arms, torso, stretching and 10 push-ups are enough.

3. Meditation

Just 5 minutes of sitting in silence before going to school or work and your thoughts will be more focused throughout the day.

A few recommendations:

  • Find a comfortable and quiet place. Nobody should bother you.
  • Close your eyes and breathe deeply.
  • To avoid being distracted by thoughts, focus on your breathing. Listen and feel every inhalation and exhalation.
  • It is not necessary to sit in the lotus position. Make yourself comfortable.

4. Affirmations

An affirmation is a statement phrase that contains a positive attitude. When repeated many times, this phrase becomes fixed in a person’s subconscious, which ultimately affects reality.

Simply put, if you repeat “I am a successful person” , you will definitely become one. At least internally you will feel 100% successful.

I recommend repeating the following affirmations every morning:

  • “I am a confident person”
  • “Money from various sources flows into my hands.”
  • “I feel healthy, energetic and full of energy throughout the day”
  • "I don't waste time on things I don't need"
  • “Girls like me and make them interested.” Likewise for girls.

5. Transitions

Take small breaks of 5 minutes throughout the day.

Every time you come home from school or work, sit down in a comfortable place, relax, calm down, exhale and then proceed to other things. This is the transition.

Writing thoughts in a diary

Keep a diary and write down your thoughts in it every evening. It could be anything: a new acquaintance, a cool idea, a useful experience, etc. If you suddenly have nothing to write, write about your achievements and failures for the day.

Watching educational films

We've already talked about books, now it's time to talk about films. Although there’s nothing to even talk about here, because the benefits are the same as from books. You watch, learn something new, or most often get inspired, and then work towards your goal.

Learning English

For those who don’t know what hobby they want to take up, I suggest learning languages.

First of all, it's exciting.

Secondly, now is such a time that it is a sin not to know English.

Thirdly, English may be needed everywhere.

Personally, I study English using the YouTube channel “English by Playlists”. I liked the approach to studying. First, you study theory for several lessons, and then go through practice.

Accounting for income and expenses

You can create a table yourself and fill it out every month. Here is a sample table for accounting:

Example of calculating income and expenses

Why is it necessary to have a self-development plan?

If I had a personal development plan at the very beginning, I would have saved a lot of time and my development would have been more effective. But what happened, happened. The main thing now is that I can share with you my individual self-development plan, which I have been developing and improving for 7 years! To be completely precise, I will not give you a plan for self-development, but a plan for self-improvement!

The fact is that when you consciously begin to engage in self-development, your head is a complete mess. You still don’t really understand what the process of self-development is, but you are already eager to fight to change your life. You are looking for those actions that will make your life easier in some places and improve in others. This process is called self-improvement.

So let's not be deceived right away!

One very popular coaching exercise called the “Wheel of Life Balance” or simply “Wheel of Life” helped me figure out how to develop in life . Thanks to him, I looked at the process of personal development from the point of view of the existence of certain areas of life in which a person needs to develop. I really liked this idea, and I took it as the basis for my future system of harmonious development.

I soon realized that knowledge of the presence of spheres and their analysis is just the beginning. All this turned out to be just the tip of a large iceberg. The fact is that after analysis, a person must plan actions that will lead him to development in his chosen field. And there may be 1,000 of these actions, or maybe 1,000,000! And most of them, as a rule, lead to “marking time.” It seems like we are developing, but there are no visible results!

Bad and good habits

Unhealthy eating => Healthy eating

According to statistics, 48% of Russians admitted that they eat incorrectly. It also turned out that one in five adults is overweight.

Simple rules will help you avoid being included in this list

  • Don't overeat. Eat in small portions, but 4-5 times.
  • Don't eat 5 hours before bedtime.
  • Drink 2 liters of water per day.
  • Refuse flour and sweets.

Watching TV => Reading books

The average Russian spends 3 hours watching TV and 1-2 hours on social networks. That works out to 4 hours a day, which is half a working day.

Imagine if you read books instead.

30 pages per hour * 4 hours = 120 pages per day. 120 * 30 = 3600 pages in thirty days. As a result, 20 books a month !

Computer games => Training

According to estimates, 23% of teenagers in Russia spend all their free time playing computer games.

If you are approaching or already entering this percentage, quickly delete all games from your computer and phone. Start doing push-ups, going to the horizontal bars or going to the gym. Imagine what you will look like in a year.

Smoking => Running

Smoking kills 332,000 people in Russia every year. Smoking has been compared to accidents such as plane crashes and accidents.

Why kill yourself when you can get high? Run a couple of laps and you will feel that it is much better than smoking.

Eternal salary => Setting goals

If you read Forbes, you can say that only 3% of people on earth achieve their goals and reach outstanding heights. It can be fixed. You already know how to set goals and plan, so don’t think twice about it.

There is an opinion that if you challenge yourself, it will be easier to achieve a new habit. That's why I suggest you keep a #30daychallenge table. Copy or sketch it in your notebook.

Your task is to set a goal, for example, to eat healthy food for 30 days. Check the box every day if you succeeded. And if you lose your temper and eat something harmful, start again.

Tips to avoid mistakes

  1. Don't distance yourself from others. In self-development, the main thing is not to distance yourself too much from society, otherwise it will not be fun.
  2. Don't be afraid of judgement. Don't give a damn about what others will say in your direction when you do something unusual for them.
  3. Take your own development seriously from the very beginning. Then everything will work out.
  4. Don't attack everything at once. To avoid burnout, increase the load gradually.
  5. Make changes. If you only read books, you will quickly get bored.
  6. Get rid of perfectionism.
  7. The main thing in life is to be useful for the development of society, and not to live for one’s own benefit. The main thing is to change the environment, and then the whole world for the better.

Health

The fact that playing sports maintains and strengthens your health is an indisputable fact. A passive lifestyle leads to increased blood pressure, muscles weaken and are lost in fat layers, blood circulation slows down, bones become fragile, a person quickly gets tired and finds himself in a state of depression.

The “law of entropic dynamic equilibrium” applies here. A self-organizing system cannot remain at the point of absolute equilibrium for a long time. It either develops or degrades. To develop, the system needs constant influence from the outside. When, while playing sports, we influence our physical body with moderate exercises, we introduce a slight imbalance in order to gain development at a new level, which manifests itself in the development of muscles, endurance, flexibility, etc. Otherwise, degradation. However, if the influence on the system (our body) was excessive, it can lead to overwork and destruction. Therefore, exercise should be moderate. Don't push yourself to the point of exhaustion.

Playing sports gives you physical strength, endurance and flexibility. It is difficult to overestimate the influence of these factors on our lives. Physical strength is required to make any movement. If strength and endurance are insufficient, movements will be difficult, and in other cases will be simply impossible. If a person leads a passive lifestyle, even when young, it will be difficult for him, for example, to climb to the fifth floor on foot. What awaits him in old age? If the trunk muscles are weakened, even when sitting, a person may experience fatigue. On the contrary, a person who plays sports will remain strong and resilient even in old age.

Bottom line. How quickly can a person develop?

If you want to see an exact figure showing how long it takes for your personality to transform, then this figure is not here.

It all depends on how you use self-development. If you read 1 book a week or even a day, it won't do anything. Useful information without further application is useless junk in the head.

Therefore, in order to get at least some results, you need to apply the acquired knowledge in life.

Motivation

As in any endeavor, motivation is crucial in playing sports. We must clearly remember the reasons that motivate us to play sports, then there will be no problems with starting. What motivates us to improve ourselves on a physical level? What reasons do we have for this?

Sports give: health, strength, endurance, flexibility, good figure, self-confidence and develops will. When you feel lazy, you just need to remember these incentives. Keep these motivating factors in mind. Can you remember them in order and think about whether you really want to be a healthy, energetic, strong and self-confident person? Do you really need developed willpower? Or are you satisfied with weakness, passivity and lack of will? Let's try to consider all the motivating factors (reasons) for regular exercise in more detail.
